Breaking news: HBG takeover

I was hoping for a nice quiet off season with some training photos , maybe a player of 5 interview , updates on new players settling in like Guyer and co , full off season for the boys , it looked like this was starting to happen , big Royce looking fittest I’ve seen , AD back in training looking strong and bang , shit show is back , I just can’t believe any board member would want to start shit every year and now of all times pre season , couple spots left for maybe a quality player etc , who ever has done this needs to go , but the NRL needs to step in now as this is just a joke , place was humming along , PV needs to come down hard as this is just disgusting again , I was hoping this year for me would be enjoyable as I don’t have a lot of time but again some one with power just decided to throw a curve ball in , i feel for all our supporters
it is the brain dead magpie element, they absolutely cannot help themselves

Personally, I can’t see the NRL allowing a return of Wests Magpies to the top comp. It’s WT or nothing I reckon,
When did Wests take majority ownership, around 2015? So 10 years ago. Every time there is a a flare up with the board, people think the sky is falling and that they are trying to bring back the Magpies. Like gun nuts in the US crying “They’re trying to take our guns”. No they’re not. Nor are the Magpies coming back. The race to victimhood is a fascinating human trait.

they could have both if western suburbs stay put and they let Brisbane tigers in (has the Richo connection )
yes currently linked with perth however nrl can rectify that, perth are not even in comp yet.
East's tigers have more cash than Redcliffe and big club
it would get 20 teams and another team in Qld

I think we have to accept HBG has assumed full control and it's only the fact that WTs has developed a fan base over the last 25 years that realistically it would be disastrous for the club to revert back to the Magpies - not only alienating old Balmain people but also the legit WTs supporters and may even impact the licence from the NRL. (Perfect opportunity to relegate a Sydney club and put resources elsewhere)
We can also assume there will be no more external reviews.

I wonder if the HBG would consider a sale of the license...

Richo would be able to drum up the private equity now he can show a profit.

If we are being realistic the hopes of the average WT punter now sit with Richo & his next move.

He goes we are going backwards.

He stays we have hope... But for how long...

Listening to Lee H on SEN he confirmed all the years of divide but did say the Richo has a well constructed contract in his favour. Smart!

If he walks out the door now ..I agree ..they are back to the cellar in a hurry ..

assume he will make some statement today you would think

Sale of the licence would be a great outcome. There’d be any number of possibilities in terms of who might buy and what corporate structure might be involved and not all of them would necessarily be a good thing. But you could hopefully rely on the NRL to put safeguards in place to ensure a successful sale.
