Breaking news: HBG takeover

Fact - HBG have 2 members on the tigers board
Fact - Patton stated in a press release and in video that the main reason for dismissal was lack of clarity between the 2 boards / the HBG weren’t told about key issues
Fact- it’s not the independent board members responsibility to relay information to HBG. That’s Deniss Burgess job .
Fact - Patton then stated that another reason was that the wests tigers board had been manoeuvring to gain more and more independence and control over decision making , by trying to implement KPIs which move toward this outcome .
I’ve stated no facts right ? I could keep going , but I’m over it . I’ve proved my point . You’re a dickhead champ !
You are just another imbecile who follows the heard and doesn’t want to have an open mind.
The truth will come out, don’t lose any sleep over it.

You are now assuming what Barry O stated today is true factual information.
The way I interpreted the comments from DP yesterday are very different.
As I keep saying the truth will be revealed and it would not look good for the HBG in the eyes on the NRL if they have lied to suit their own agenda.
I just gave you facts …. They undermine your whole position .

Sorry @cochise going to call this out.

I won’t debate our current owners are crap, but all versions
HBG would never have gained the dominant shareholder and financial position it holds today if it weren’t for the mismanagement of Kristina Keneally and the Labor Government in 2010.

The old Balmain Leagues Club was forced to close in 2010 to make way for a proposed metro station, a project that never happened.

This closure put enormous financial pressure on Balmain. Ultimately, HBG, under the guise of bailing out Balmain, effectively executed a financial takeover.

What they failed to realise was that this also hurt critical pathways programs in the inner west and Ryde, which in my opinion has contributed to our poor performance since 2010.

I personally can’t see HBG’s behaviour changing anytime soon. What we need is a private consortium genuinely passionate about the Tigers and Magpies to step in and convince the NRL that the current governance by HBG is harming the brand.
I thought Balmain sold that club to developers on the recommendation of a club legend.

Wait … are they facts or not ? I’m just apart of the sheeple right … coool coool .. but are they facts ? They sure do seem like facts to me …

You obviously do not understand English, they were not advised of information in which they expected and were entitled to be consulted on.
You believe what you want to believe.
The Independent directors have said that the HBG representatives on the Wests Tigers board were present at all meetings. Therefore, they were there when information was being discussed and part of the decision making process.

The reason why there are HBG board members also on the Wests Tigers board is exactly the reason you keep on mentioning, so that HBG has a say in decisions.

Are you not presenting the comments from DP as fact? Because that's the message you're sending out to everyone here..
How would I know if they are fact or not ?
I just find it ridiculous that everyone is jumping to conclusions with knowing the truth.
It will highly likely work out well for Wests Tigers as it had put the whole HBG sage under the spotlight once again and I don’t think PVL and the NRL will tolerate it if they are telling lies to suit their own agenda.

Mate we have been dealing with the infighting with this mob for years. They stab each other in the back ahead of the best interests of the club.
No one needs reminding under their control we have never played a finals game and have taken out three wooden spoons - and yet they remain untouchable accept to each other.
The independents had no agenda other to do whats best for WTs and up until yesterday most supporters would have been content with the last twelve months with their involvement. Today on the back of the actions of HBG we find ourselves at war again.

My agenda is for people to have an open mind and take everything into consideration rather than just jumping on the bandwagon and only listening to one side of the story.
Have you listened to the Daniel Paton statement ? If not I suggest you do to get a better understanding on this matter.
The "whys" of it are irrelevant.

The main issue for most fans is they liked the direction the club was heading under the independent directors plus Richo, and that direction was the response to an independent audit that recommended structural changes.

HBG have walked all that progress back. We are back where we were pre-audit and claiming all those wooden spoons.

I don't actually care if the jersey or stadium strategy decisions triggered HBG's move. The fact is they cut the independents and I don't support that for any reason. I don't care if there was a lack of communication or consultation. I dont care if HBG got upset. I preferred the direction the club was heading under the independents and I don't want that sabotaged.

There was a statement made yesterday that they were not consulted.
So either that’s a blatant lie, or everyone is just jumping to conclusions like a heard of sheep.
I can imagine the 3 reasons (consultation, stadium deals and the jersey) given for the sacking happened in different time frames. I find it strange that these issues weren't brought up independently as they happened by HBG, and as stated by the independent board members they were unaware of any issues until yesterday. To me it looks like HGB have had this in the planning for some time and have just waited until they fabricated enough firepower based on an exaggeration of a shade of truth, at the right time of the year.
Just a poorly disguised power grab in my opinion.

There is no doubt the HBG have a poor track record and if they are found to have told lies to get rid of the independent board members to suit their agenda, I don’t think it will end well for them in regards to their NRL licence.
How can you be certain the independent board members had no agenda ?

Wouldn't the Minutes from Board Meetings show who attended meetings and ultimately whether HBG were adequately informed? I doubt the colour palette for jerseys would be minuted as that is operational, but at our abortion of a club anything is possible, apart from good governance.

Disappointed that this happened pre-season as it could have been far more destabilising mid-season when we are struggling to stay in contention, just ask anyone with the surname Moses for assistance next time.

Alternatively, I would have appreciated if this happened before Black Friday so I could get a deal on a new TV as I will need one tomorrow when Benny Elias gets wheeled out to talk out of his opinionated arse about a club he never played for.

Well either Barry O or Daniel Paton are lying.
Aren’t there minutes of these board meetings where these major decisions were made?

Who do those minutes record as attendees?

Were the HBG representatives there?

If so the only failure in communication was from the HBG representatives back to the board that appointed them.

Otherwise it smacks of sour grapes and sacking the independents to ensure they have control, because they weren’t getting their own way.

I don't know much about accounting but after having a brief look at the Holman Barnes 2024 annual report I think millions is slightly overestimating.
When I spoke to the WA CFO a few years ago he said it was a million per year.

But also don't forget that WA's Charter states they must use their profits for funding rugby league and other community initiatives. That's literally the whole purpose of a Leagues Club (it's in the name),so you don't really get a pat on the back for following your own Charter.
