Hey guys, just looking for anyone from Queensland slash Brisbane who can help me out.
I've recently been accepted into university in Brisbane so i'm looking to move in mid February. I've teed up a place to live with a friend of a friend who lives in Ferny Grove until i can find something more permanent.
Just wondering what people could tell me about life in Brisbane, availability of part time jobs and that sort of thing.
Also if anyone knows of a local league team perhaps scratching for numbers or just a reserve grade team somewhere who could use some players that would be appreciated too.
And once the footy season rolls around if anyones keen to hit the pub for a few beers and to watch the game give me a yell :supporter: .
Cheers, Fraze.

Cant help you with all your questions mate but Brisbane as a city is awesome.

You will love it, shits on Sydney, the only thing wrong with it is its full of Broncos fans.

hey Fraze

I Moved up for Uni from Lennox Head and can tell you it is a great city (never lived in Sydney though). Part Time jobs are pretty easy to come by in my experience; Seek or gumtree, also my uni has a career board that posts alot of part time jobs for uni students.

When you're looking for a place closer to the city or uni, the busway in Brisbane is pretty good to access. All the Uni's in Brisbane have a busway terminal or in easy walk of one and its fairly economical to use instead of parking permits etc. My gf and I found a place in the burbs for our first year but with no car it was a B**** getting to uni lol.

Can't help with local league clubs, only know of easts league in coorparoo.

Definitely up for a beer in the city when the season starts, can't stand broncos fans!!!!

FOGS Cup is the Reserve Grade Competition in Brisbane, but you also have your Junior Clubs who have Open Grade Footy.

For FOGS, your closest Club would be the Wests Panthers and for your Open Grade Footy, there is are Clubs at Ferny Grove, Albany Creek & Banyo which are close to you.

The QRL would have contacts, so jump on thier website http://www.qrl.com.au

If you are a talented footballer, the only club you should look up is Eastern Suburbs Tigers (based at Langlands Park, Stones Corner)… They are the best in Queensland and will be Premiers in 2012

Cheers Watto, I wouldnt say I'm all that talented, just an honest, light weight hooker looking for a run and to make some mates and have a good time while doing it.
I'll have a look around at the clubs mentioned and see whats easiest to get to and from, from Ferny Grove and see who needs numbers as well.

Thanks Happy as well, i'll be sure to look into the clubs and hopefully find a home for 2012
