I think that's almost a guarantee and I'd say the front runner is Moses atm. People say give him time, but who can name another player whose come into fg, been as average as he's been and turn into a superstar? At best, he'll be a plugger in the Jarrod Mullen/Peter Wallace mold. He's no Origin player that's for damn sure. I had hopes hearing about them in the lower grades that they could be another Foran/DCE but that's not happening.
Tbh, I don't think Jacob Miller is any worse than these 2.
I have critised them before and also made it clear that I hope both come good for the sake of the team, and themselves, and better judges than me ( such as Joey last night) have repeatedly said that the're kids and we need to persevere with them. And maybe ther're right.
However I still think that it's too much to expect both of them develop their game at the same time, both of them need to have an experienced half / 5/8beside them to help them along.
Yes you learn from your losses, but when they come too often , or are too big over a long time , it can be counterproductive
I believe that Brooks will be okay in time and will get through the problems that they have.
But Moses I think is a different story and after watching him at times last night, it looks like he's got the weight of the world on his shoulders.
I hope that as more games go by, his confidence is not damaged to the extent that he doesn't make it , or takes a lot more time that he would have, had he been brought along at a slower pace.
I still would be looking at Drinkwater to try him at 5/8( mainly because we don't have any other option) and concentrating on Brooks first.
There's bugger all difference between 5/8 and Half these days, and at least we would have only one player targeted in defence rather than two.
We bought Drinkwater as back up , but still have not seen him in f/grade.
Maybe he will be a temporary solution, maybe he won't
But as they say " if you keep on doing the same thing, you'll get the same results" I hope that Jts way works, but , there's also dangers about leaving in the deep end.
