Brooks and moses

Moses looked like a star. The ball he put on for Siro was a pearler. If Brooks returns next week only half as good as Moses last night then these two with Ted will run amok

Moses was great and could be anything but at this stage he is like Benji was with us, he just keeps rolling the dice and that comes with inexperience and youth. When he learn when to push the button and when to play the percentages he will be a super star. In saying that you can teach any robot to play the percentages but you can not teach freakish skills

Yes Supercoach.
Sometimes you gotta do your chores before you can go outside and play.
Geeze he looked good running it in that first half though…
If Brooksie has worked hard on structured attack and attacking kicking during the preseason our outside men will see a lot of space this year through Mitchel's ball delivery.

He was brilliant in the first half. It was never going to be that easy in the second and as our only playmaker, he was an easy target for the Warriors and their improved second half performance. I thought his kicking game at the end, targeting Vatuvei, was pretty good.

Am looking forward to having Brooks and Moses on the field together, against Manly on Monday night. Bring it on.

Exceptional first half but needs to learn to close out games. Not bad given it was his first time he had control of the team.

Moses was quoted as saying he is enjoying his football again after the debacle of 2015\. Hope this sways him to stay.

If we had to lose either Brooks or Moses due to salary cap, which would you chose?

Both are invaluable.

I thought he did what he could in the second half. Granted he took some wrong options, but they only became wrong because they didnt work.

There was a period there when we hardly saw the ball for 15min. By the time we had a chance to stop the Warriors momentum, our pigs started building through the middle and Mitchell gathered himself to close out the game.

We won and scored points in the final 5min!

It would be a bonus to sign them up asap, before the media have them linked with a different club each week. Love the attitude of Moses, and while the second half was patchy you cant ignore the brilliance of the first half.
They present us with the best opportunity we have had in years to create an enviable spine - the sooner it is sorted the better.

As good as he was, the warriors were atrocious which aided him immensely. Let's see how he goes from week to week against all sorts of opposing teams before we get too carried away with how he's going. I thought he was great first half. Not so good second.

This would have been one of the few times that Moses played 7 for us, he seemed to like getting early ball on both sides. The key to his attack was taking it right to the line, showing he wasn't afraid to cop a hit in order to get the defence to set.

But it will be different this week, he will play more on one side or get the ball off Brooks, which will mean a bit more running and less distributing.

Would like him to work on his 5th tackle options when the game is on the line. A few times in that last 10-15 mins he should have tried to retain possession but instead speculated by hoisting it to the 10m without applying real pressure to the Warriors.

I can't deny that his first half was the best I've seen him though (finally got to watch the replay,) and I will not take that away from him. Boy he puts them in two minds when he takes the line on.

We through a lot of different stuff at them which would have really messed with their defensive mind set

I can't remember us throwing one second man play at them in the 1st half and we lived off that exclusively in 2015

I don't think one person in the Stadium thought he would hit Sironen at that time and the timing of the ball was perfect

My problem with him was that he played the second half expecting the Warriors to be as poor as they were at the end of the first half. The difference was that in the first 40 our middle men sucked their outside defenders in creating space for Mitch to throw those beautiful cutballs to men in space.

So what I saw was a guy who continually made the wrong decisions in the second stanza. He passed short when he should have gone out the back, alternatively, he went out the back when a popped ball of his hip would have sent the runner through a gap. He also ran the ball when he should have kicked it, regaining possession and his kicks he did do (bar the one time he rolled it into the ingoal area) were ineffective mid fielders. Basically he played impatient football that really put his runners in poor positions which turned over possession and allowed the Warriors back into the game.

Had Brooks, Farrah or Balin been there they would have played the percentages and strangled the Warriors out of the race. He'll learn from that and I still love the way he plays. I just thought he played that second half how Benji used to and I was hoping for more control.

Good points.

Not taking the 2 to go more than 3 tries ahead reflected this impatience.

Absolutely. Needs to play more patient and smart footy. And he will, as he matures and gets more experience. It highlights the importance of having an experienced wise head, to settle things down when needed too. Anyway, it was a good win and an enjoyable game of footy to watch. :supporter:

i'd start the same way as last week. Cherrington (number 9) on the bench. For the first 20 mins, have Lovett wearing the number 14 jersey and defending as a number 9 would. he had great energy in defence. And in Attack, have the Number 7 (Brooks- go to DH) and either using our extra forward run to tire the Manly pack out, or throw it to Moses to run the backs. play helter-skelter again, then switch to a controlling game. where Brooks drops back to a traditional 7 role.

Siro included, hey?

2nd half he went to that well a few more times and failed - something we did a lot of last year, forcing passes on backrowers and centres who have defence immediately in their face.

I think Moses and Brooks have more moderation in them this year, which I am looking forward to seeing. When we parted company with Benji, at least I thought we could get beyond the compulsion to execute every play regardless of whether it was on or not, but we still struggled with it 2014-15\. Even Tedesco can't help himself sometimes.
