But in 2013

even allowing for injuries, I have not seen Potter's imprint on any plays - in fact, more often than not, we looked more like the Tigers of old, under Sheens…Let me be clear, I wasn't expecting the team to be able to perform given the conditions, but those of you that have a deeper knowledge of the game may perhaps care to explain where, tactically, positionally, defensively or in attack, we have changed in any way from 2012? Or will we only see this in 2014?

Didnt have the cattle for his game plan.

That and Benji couldn't stick to a game plan if his life depended on it

2013 we had the worst defensive coach in the history of the modern game in "Rolls" Royce Simmons. We had players throughout the year not putting in, some are going some are staying. We had at one stage 1-7 out injured and forwards like Galloway who had long term injuries.
Potters imprint that I witnessed is that he got our young players to continually improve to an extent where the future looks brighter. How Potter deals with the senior players is what will determine if he succeeds or not.

Under Sheens we had self-belief. And we nearly made the playoffs last season. Now we look like we expect to lose.

Sheens also persisted with the same crap for years, playing people out position, a back that played 5mins a game off the bench, every scrum went blind side. We got stale and missed our chances in 2010, 2011\. He needed to go.

Potter has shown me plenty this year under a team/coaching staff he inherited and having to use something like 35+ players due to injuries and a bunch of underperforming senior players. This year has been a blessing in disguise. We may never have seen the sudden rise of some of these young blokes (Simona ring a bell) because Sheens would have opted for someone with experience and probably moved half the team around or brought in someone like Meaney.

He's shown he isn't afraid to bench or drop under performers and promote young guys on form. He's gotten more out of Blair who was heading towards being released. He's certainly been in Murdoch-Masila's ear and completely unleashed the beast. He's gotten rid of most of the dead wood and we've seen huge improvement's in Ava, Tedesco, Nofoaluma, Simona, Sue and young blokes like Buchanan who is already looking like he's been out there for a few years.

Potter has done a great job, and deserves another season with his own signings (players and coaches) to prove his worth. Anyone saying "Sheens would've done better" has no idea. We may have made the 8 under Sheens due to familiarity and probably less injuries, but we were stale and wouldn't have taken out the comp. That's for sure.

I thought there were big changes this year. One off the ruck (repeat 5 times) then kick and hope the opposition
makes a mistake. A forward power game where we get over the opposition pack, Problem was that almost every forward pack was bigger and we got smashed. When we started to throw the ball around towards the end of the year we started to look good, but unfortunately the team nearly always went back into their shell and… one off the ruck (repeat 5 times).
I also think it was time for Sheens to go, mainly because of his poor recruitment in the last year (Blair for Fifita and Gibbs!?)
But also remember he won us our 1st premiership in 36 years and finished
one win from the finals 2012 Scored 506 pts
4th 2011 Scored 519 pts
3rd 2010 Scored 537 pts
one win from the finals 2009 Scored 558 pts
two wins from the finals 2008 Scored 528 pts
this year we finished 10 points from the finals and scored 386 points, And this from a team that has some really exciting youngsters in the backline. Can't score if they don't give them the ball. The team against North Queensland
really only had Woods out, almost our best team yet we still got smashed. The only teams we beat out in the 8 were Nth Qld (when they were struggling) and Melbourne during State of Origin. Under Sheens we could beat anyone on our day, that was never the case this year.
I hope next year will be better and I hope Potter will surprise me, but I'm not holding my breath.

the only game i feel i saw a different game plan, or a game plan at all, was against the dragons. we actually had a proper halfback LUKE BROOKS, Anasta and Sironen aren't halfbacks. with that guys like BMM and Siro were running straighter and more powerful lines and i feel everyone was more direct where we usually just go sideways a bit. i think we will score many more points next year with a proper halfback. Luke brooks doesn't need to be a superstar to do that he just needs to direct us around the park then the brilliance will come later and hopefully with the success of the team

I agree. ^This is the main thing that worries me. I think the juniors have plenty of self belief but as Sheer64 said; "How Potter deals with the senior players is what will determine if he succeeds or not." I think on the day we have the individual players to beat any other team, but I don't think we have a team yet. In rebuilding Potter needs to focus on senior player attitude. If he does it right we'll be fine.

Our strength has never been our forwards …. It's always been our ability to score points form anywhere. Potters coaching is similar to Steve Price at the Dragons. Safety first, lots of forward one out plays, kick long and watch the opposition bring it all the way back ... Then do the same thing all over again. It's almost gone back to Terry Lamb style where we could only score from a grubber kick close to the line. I hope with Brooks at half next year, we can play with a bit more creativity than that.

Anyone who saw our last few games in 2012 would have known we were in big trouble come 2013\. Than Potter walks in and everything that can go wrong goes wrong, tragic loss of a player, massive injury toll, board room fighting,Benji defection and so on. No one likes finishing the season in second last place but considering the circumstances I think Potter went well and Iam very optimistic 2014 we will improve out of sight
