The decision to rezone the site would kill off any chances of the famous Balmain Tigers returning to their rightful home at Victoria Road, Rozelle which, would consequently diminish any hopes of the Balmain Tigers existing in the current joint venture with Western Suburbs magpies. Over 100 years of history is at stake as the Tigers identity which is considered by many to be apart of the heart and pulse of the local Balmain community faces sure extinction by this decision. Many families throughout Australian history have grown up in this iconic Sydney region supporting their local team and have passed down this great love and passion of supporting the Tigers through generations, even to those who have moved on out of the area and who will still always consider themselves 'Balmain boys or 'girls'. The Tiger's league's club has had a wonderfully positive impact in the Balmain area and has served the community through various sports in the area, providing grants for local junior sport including Rugby league, Cricket and Water Polo.
