Everybody needs to calm the **** down. I'm sick of everybody being so negative and already blaming certain players for losses, wanting players to be dropped, positions changed, coach sacked etc. etc. - it's round THREE!
Below are five reasons why you should stay positive and to just CHILL. Believe me it's not worth panicking at this stage of the season.
1\. In all of our three matches we've played we haven't played anywhere near our best yet. We won one of them, lost by four points to last years premiers (had a big opportunity to win it) and even though the score line probably didn't reflect it we were still in most of the game tonight.
2\. The players are still adjusting to a new team. Two of our spine (Humble & Moltzen) are still getting game experience playing in their positions and this will take a while for them to gel fully with the rest of the team. Blair is also finding his feet at the Tigers - he played a much different style of play at Melbourne - don't put him down too quickly. It's not going to be perfect after three rounds. It will take time.
3\. Injuries. Once again we've been struck by injuries very early in the season which hampers our progress of easing into the season. Tuqiri, Tedesco, Galloway and Ellis are massive massive injuries. The team would be much more stable if they were all on the field together with the rest of the team.
4\. We've been in this position before. The last two seasons we have finish 3rd & 4th however, in both seasons we were playing very very average at the start of the season and only came home firing towards the middle to the end of the season. We can take a lot out of this and I guarantee you the players won't forget this. They will remain positive.
5\. Keeps us under the radar. I personally like us to be playing not our absolute best football at this stage of the season because it's so hard to maintain it throughout 26 rounds. It keeps us grounded and won't give us the extra pressure of favouritism. I don't mind us finding our feet for a couple of games and still being to win games even though we're not playing our best (we did this many times over the last two years which is something we couldn't do a three or four years ago).
We've got 10 days to recover and to get our act together to play the Raiders. I think after the performance we put in tonight the boys are going to be embarrassed and come out firing next week. Sheens will make sure they are mentally prepared for next week as well because we don't want to be one win from 4 games.
