Why doesn't this surprise me? does this team actually operate under a salary cap like the rest of us? We sign Blair, but it took months to make it official while humpty had to balance the cap and release two props we could desperately use at the moment. When Souths signed Inglis, Ian Shcubert went over the details of his contract with a fine tooth comb.These leeches make marquee signing after marquee signing and no one ever batters an eyelid. Must be a great feeling following a team who doesn't have a salary cap and an endless supply of money. Yet they claim they are broke :laughing:

I'd imagine that Bailey and Prince would be chewing up a large portion of their cap. Maybe their departure would make way for Taylor and Cronk. I doubt the figures would be exactly the same for both players as Taylor and Cronk are of a much higher standard than Prince and Bailey.
 
I find it a joke that they can come out with these signings and then have the hide to ask the NRL for cash advances on their NRL grant.

If clubs are struggling financially they should not be making these huge signings.
 
Isnt it the Sydney teams who have been fighting to keep the Salary Cap to ensure an even playing field?

Well, the Titans are using that same line when they ask for some coin!

Furthermore, do you think the NRL are gona let the Gold Coast fold twice?

They won't and I think Shonky Searle knew this when he set it all up.

He and the Titans are involved in more dodgy dealings than the Oasis project

I was going to say this. With a new AFL team on the Coast, Gallop and co will want the Titans up there no matter what. Searle and co are just going to take advantage of the extra benefits they get. If it was a Sydney club in a similar position the NRL would've let them fall over by now.

Prince still has 2 years after this year to go on massive money. Gold Coast won't be able to unload him to any other NRL club unless they pay 60% plus of his contract which would count under their cap. Their only hope to get rid of his big money is to do a deal with a Super League club in the UK, providing Scott wants to move.

Don't think Cronk will go there. Think he will saty in Melbourne or go to the Broncos if he moves.

The cente of excellence was a too ambitious projcet for such a new club. Really to train a NRL side you need an oval, access to a pool and a good gym. Office staff could have rented space anywhere on the coast. The project was a white elephant from day one and I believe they will lose a ton of money if they try to sell it unless the Gold Coast Titians take a very long term lease with at vastly inflated above market level rent (something that would hurt their balance sheet for years to come).

The deal with the stadium is a very bad one for the Titians who pay massive rent to use the stadium. AFL have a much better deal on the Gold Coast but the head body did put some funding into the redevelopment of their stadium.

I think that if the area wasn't important to keep the NRL would let them go broke and replace them with another side.

I think the ownership will change in the near future.

Going forward I doubt they will continue to be as active in the player market as I think the other clubs will get together with the new idependent commission and make the early giving of grants to the club come with a number of conditions, one being about player poaching.
 
Let the club fail. Then take the name and colours, the playing roster and the coaching staff and find a new structure and start the entity again. Palmer wouldn't be a bad option.

So effectively we get a new business entity but the same sporting entity.

Then renegotiate the stadium deal and good to go - with a new business entity should be necessary to make a new contract.

Worst thing to do would be to bail them out or buy the centre of excellence, the toxic debts of the current administration should not be taken onto books of the NRL.
 
Maybe the titans are doing what the storm did rort the cap pay players what they are worth and have 2 sets of books so they can start winning games and bring in more people to their games

Did you not see what that clown did to the A-League team? Surely they aren't going near him, I would rather Searle remain in charge.
