CUBS TO PLAY ST HELENS AT LEICHHARDT OVAL
Tuesday, 20 October 2009

The next generation of Wests Tigers players will be on show at Leichhardt Oval on Wednesday, October 21.

The Wests Tigers Cubs will play a St Helens U17s academy team at 6pm at the historic ground. Entry is free and spectators are welcome. It would be great for the Cubs to see plenty of Wests Tigers colours amongst the crowd.

Wests Tigers Cubs go into the match on the back of two victories in Queensland last week. St Helens recorded a convincing 38-6 victory over a Balmain Tigers Development team at Leichhardt Oval last Friday night.

The opening match of the Cubs tour saw Wests Tigers beat Wynnum Manly 42-22 at Kitchener Park.

“The boys started strongly but finished poorly,’’ said manager Tim White.

“Curtis Sironen and Inno Innesesso received the man of the match awards. David Nofalouma and Adrian Tatola were also excellent.”

Wests Tigers Cubs then recorded a 30-18 win over a Gold Coast Titans development side at Kingscliff.

The Titans scored the opening two tries of the game before the Wests Tigers Cubs lifted to record a good win. Curtis Sironen and Inno Innesesso were again joint winners of the man-of-the-match award.

“Curtis will play in the back-row for the Wests Tigers U20s one day,’’ White said about the son of Paul Sironen.

“Inno was outstanding in attack and defence.”

The 2009 Cubs Squad that toured the Gold Coast were:

David Atuau (Wests Magpies)
Sam Atuau (Wests Magpies)
Braeden Batiste (Balmain Tigers)
Jay Bonnell (Wests Magpies)
Sonny Bristow (Wests Magpies)
Peter Brown (Wests Magpies)
Matthew Groat (Wests Magpies)
Inno Innesesso (Wests Magpies)
Tunui Joseph (Wests Magpies)
Shane Lalogafau (Wests Magpies)
Kyle Lovett (Balmain Tigers)
Joel Luani (Balmain Tigers)
David Nofalouma (Wests Magpies)
Sebastian Sell (Wests Magpies)
Curtis Sironen (Balmain Tigers)
Sevao Stowers (Wests Magpies)
Jesse Sue (Wests Magpies)
Pale Tanumaleu (Wests Magpies)

Sirro Jnr will be a giant like his dad, saw him in a school game at jnrs school, he was playing centre and stood head n shoulders above all else.

Bristow is good but has a knack of being lazy and a bit of an attitude.. David Nofalouma is class, played NSW U/16's this year and if he stays injury free is definately one for the future…

Groat comes from Griffith… also has write ups in the paper. Maybe the Tigers will have two Griffith boys in the starting front row in 5 years?

I have played against Curtis Sironen in school footy while he is very tall he wasnt as good as most would expect…........... i dont see him reaching first grade.

People from Rankins Springs might dispute that!!!!!

I have heard big wraps on Inno. He can play anywhere on the field. However, Mr Blair had him on the wing last year in the SG Ball, which was not a good move. His best positions are in the backrow, even hooker. He is relatively small in comparrison to most players but could be anything if given a go in the right position. He is still eligible for SG Ball again, but watch out in 2011 where he will carve it up in the under 20's. My opinion he should already be there…

Mr Blair only won one game different story with Derek in charge of the Magpies SG Ball in 2010, he will get a go and so will everyone else.

What position has Inno been playing for the cubs ?

I really hope that is so the case. He has such a good side (SG Ball side), that we really should be making a good go to win the comp, I really wish I could see big Jake carve up the comp as well.

I have no idea what position Brooksy played him in, hopefully Derek will play him in the right position…
