Wests Tigers have received another injury setback ahead of tomorrow night’s blockbuster clash against the Gold Coast Titans at Skilled Park with the loss of centre Geoff Daniela.
Daniela was named at centre on Tuesday to replace the injured Chris Lawrence. He now joins Wade McKinnon, Liam Fulton, Lawrence, Bryce Gibbs and John Skandalis on the sidelines.
“Geoff got a knock playing for Wests in the NSW State Cup last weekend in New Zealand. He is not 100 per cent,’’ Sheens said.
“Sean Meaney may be looked at full-back and I may keep Mitch Brown in the centres.
“ I have got experienced players there in Daniel Fitzhenry, Beau Ryan and Brown who have played full-back. It depends on the configuration I play.
“Sean is a specialist full-back who represented NSW Residents this year and played well. He has played very well in the Balmain Ryde Eastwood Tigers side that has done well. I’m looking at maybe giving him a start.”
Meaney has played just one NRL game after making his first grade debut against the Bulldogs at ANZ Stadium in round 13.
Sheens also dismissed constant speculation about Tim Moltzen returning from a knee reconstruction for the finals.
“He is only 5 to 6 months post surgery and although he is training along with Tuiaki, they are pretty much looking at next season,’’ Sheens added.
