Wests Tigers have received another injury setback ahead of tomorrow night’s blockbuster clash against the Gold Coast Titans at Skilled Park with the loss of centre Geoff Daniela.

Daniela was named at centre on Tuesday to replace the injured Chris Lawrence. He now joins Wade McKinnon, Liam Fulton, Lawrence, Bryce Gibbs and John Skandalis on the sidelines.

“Geoff got a knock playing for Wests in the NSW State Cup last weekend in New Zealand. He is not 100 per cent,’’ Sheens said.

“Sean Meaney may be looked at full-back and I may keep Mitch Brown in the centres.

“ I have got experienced players there in Daniel Fitzhenry, Beau Ryan and Brown who have played full-back. It depends on the configuration I play.

“Sean is a specialist full-back who represented NSW Residents this year and played well. He has played very well in the Balmain Ryde Eastwood Tigers side that has done well. I’m looking at maybe giving him a start.”

Meaney has played just one NRL game after making his first grade debut against the Bulldogs at ANZ Stadium in round 13.

Sheens also dismissed constant speculation about Tim Moltzen returning from a knee reconstruction for the finals.

“He is only 5 to 6 months post surgery and although he is training along with Tuiaki, they are pretty much looking at next season,’’ Sheens added.

Good news for all those screaming for Meaney to be promoted.

This will give us another chance to see him.

Brown in the Centres wont be that bad.

Chin up Guys - We are still a real good chance at 2nd after 26 rounds

I agree Spartan. Will be interesting to see how we go in the face of adversity. For some reason, i've got a good feeling about what's gonna happen on Friday night.

Be interesting to see what Tim does here. He had Meaney on the bench against the Bulldogs earlier in year.
I think I'd move Beau to FB and put Fitzy on the wing and keep Meaney on the bench.

Mataka has been playing in the centres for BRET. I would of liked to have seen him go into the centres so another bopper could be brought onto the bench.

The ideal situation would be Brown to left centre, Ayshford to right centre and Meaney to fullback.

It wouldn't shock me at all to see Brown to stay at fullback, Ryan to right centre and Fitzhenry to right wing with Meaney riding the pine.

That in itself may not be a bad thing. I really rate Meaney, there is no secret of that but it is a massive ask to bring in a guy who has not trained with the squad in a full house for a crunch game against one of the best tactical kickers in the NRL. I think he would still do the job but it is alot to put on the guy

Meaney to fullback, Brown to the centres, Fitzy can stay on the bench. Best possible outcome for the team given the injury scenario now.

Meaney is the logical choice even for his goal kicking alone, how terrible would it be if we lose by 10 after Marshall kicks 2 from 5 or something?

Yes agreeded best scenario but I think Sheens will find a starting job fo Fitzy and shuffle the rest

True, but is there any merit in leaving Marshall with the kicking duties considering Meaney may not play in the finals when injured players return? If it was my call, I would probably give Meaney the job though.

lol gee i get to see two tigers games a year in QLD if im lucky and both round 26 titans matches (2009 and 2010) we are play with second string players. No offence i still rate their chances but would have definitely preferred a full strength side to watch. Not complaining cos im so excited!!!!!

Really hope they win cos we need 2nd position with all these superficial injuries. We really could use that second chance/ week off.

Go the Tigers!

even in that scenario a perfect kicking game from marshall would still see us lose by 4

I would prefer Brown in the centres and Meaney at FB anyway. Meaney is a specialist fullback and goalkicker and we could use Brown's size and speed in the centres. Not afraid to run at the line hard and if he gives Lote good service, we may see a few tries down the left side.

Yes but we would still be ahead on F/A.

And we finish 3rd instead of 4th

ahhh i like your thinking!!

i doubt the panthers are going to lose to the sharkies, as good as their defence has been recently, i think the panthers will steam roll them. Hope not.

I think we are the most deserving team to be sitting in 2nd position, panthers and titans have been faders in recent weeks, give it to the team who have been putting their all leading to the finals. Just my two cents

Titans lost one game after winning 5 on the trot. A bit harsh to call them faders
