DCE turns down huge Manly deal

DALY Cherry-Evans knocked back a new four-year deal with the Sea Eagles just hours before leading his side to a come-from-behind victory over the Tigers.
In a dramatic twist in the race to secure the game's hottest prospect, The Sunday Telegraph can reveal the 2011 rookie of the year is being hunted by several rival clubs.

Cherry-Evans, who burst on to the NRL scene last year, turned down the club's latest offer on Friday in a refusal that is likely to start a bidding war.

He is contracted with Manly until the end of 2013.

"They came to us with an offer on Friday," said Cherry-Evans' manager, Gavin Orr. "We had a look and it wasn't quite where we want it. We told them to go back and see if they can work a few things out."

I'd like think we are one of the clubs in the hunt. What i'd like to see us do is gather all the money that will be left over from Ellis and Lote, sacrafice Moltzen and throw it all at him. We'd be unstoppable
 
I will take him or Cronk no questions asked In my opinion Cronk and DCE are the top halfbacks in the NRL with dust between the next
 
Smart move by the young man.

I'd be surprised if Manly can keep their halves pairing of Foran and DCE together. Both are young and will warrant huge increases from their last contracts. Likewise with T Rex who has suddenly become one of the best forwards in the world and will be hot property when his contract expires.
 
Hopefully we are one of the teams. but i do think he will stay with Manly, he's just trying to squeeze all the money he can into his contract. hopefully Manly are dumb enough to let him go.
 
DCE is highly likely to wait until after the ARLC decides on expansion… He will be the Number 2 target for the Brisbane Bombers!
 
I agree Happy, although if i had a choice of the two i'd lean towards DCE, as he's still only 20 or 21\. Its simple, we need a halfback, and we aren't going to get many better chances at signing someone in the class of DCE then right now. We just have to throw the kitchen sink at him, and if it means sacraficing Moltzen then i don't have a problem with that, and i doubt if anyone else would either

If it's a case of one or the other, but not both

Would you have Politoni, DCE, Benji, Tedesco

or Farah, Moltzen, Benji, Tedesco

I'd prefer Farah, DCE, Benji, Tedesco
 
DCE would be an ideal signing for the Tigers at half, although I can't see it happening, I think Manly will come back with a suitable offer.
 
We would be mad not to be interested. Surely we have some cash with Lote and Ellis leaving?

Look at Melbourne, they have a team full of nuffies but have the best 1,6,7,9 combo in the comp.

Throw in Moltzen as well Hybrid we won't need him if we sign DCE or Cronk
 
He's from Brisbane isn't he? His manager has probably told him to build his name during the rest of his contract at Manly and then take up a huge offer from Brisbane w/near limitless third party sponsorships. Brisbane will be looking for the next queensland superstar and that'll probably be DCE.

Do you mean the Broncos? because they just re-signed Wallace on a long-term deal

If he's gonna stay in Syd its def Manly

His team are just doing some shrewd negotiating. (Next there will be interest from Rugby…)
 
With the money that can be used, the Tigers are absolutely CRAZY if they aren't atm attempting to approach DCE. If they aren't, someone needs to be asking Humpty why
 
I believe he will stay with Manly on a massively increased contract but they will probably have to sacrifice one or both of the Stewarts to accommodate him.
