Call me crazy but I think we need a draft for players under 23

When you turn 23 you can go wherever I think it will help protect clubs who spend time and money investing in players

My thinking is that it would give clubs a little more time with the player they have invested in and help stop player managers treating kids like a quick payday

Idk what exactly the details are, but franchise tagging in NFL could be useful in this situation. I think it works like giving a single roster spot on a one year deal to a player and they can’t deny it

Will not work while certain clubs manipulate the system, Draft only works when is evenly applied and the NRL will not fine or strip draft picks from clubs.

I think clubs should have a bigger salary cap relieve for their own juniors.

E.g 100k off the cap for each player in the top 30 so helps them retain them and also makes clubs like Roosters / Sharks put money into development and not just buy. So if a player was on 600k it would only be 500k on the SC. Or even trying to retain a player you could offer 100k more

Salary cap should have discounts each year a player is at a club and for own juniors .

I’m over it all, the game is losing its integrity in respect to contractual and club commitment of the players .

Well I heard Gould sprouting about a player draft / auction ( assume excluding managers). That seems to me to make good sense, managers are not doing the game any favours, just vultures.
Said he would bid around $2m a season for Cleary.
