I think we have lost sight of what the Video Referee is there for…. There is plenty more areas of the game which we could utilise a referal system for, but we are gona spend millions on something as high tech as this.

I wonder how the Satelite will identify the momentum of the original ball carrier.... Does this mean the momentum rule will be abolished?

Watto - nothing to do with momentum - its a fantastic idea i reckon.

it looks for the ball **leaving the hands** direction - so even if the ball floats forward, its still ok

So in otherwords - Farahs pass to Ayshford would be ok…

The satellits doesn't do it - they'll have a computer which will.

The same concept will work for knock-ons as well.

Will it be able to distinguish interferences with the PTB or keep the defence to 10 metres? They're far bigger concerns than a few loose passes that carry forward.

Would be better to relax the rule in trivial situations where it is a technicality, forward passes to beat the defensive line are a different matter however.

'Float forward'… I love it. Rugby League is somehow exempt from the laws of physics. If the ball is passed from point a, the player catches it at point b... Which is infront of point a... The ball has travelled forward... Simple!

Yet in true league style, over complicate stuff and make up mystery happenings such as travelled back from the hands and floated forward... Pshhh.

How fast do you think these guys move at? Then factor in most of the time the player is not running dead straight, but on an angle or sideways! the notion of backwards out of the hand, but travelled forward is flawed.
