England forward Gareth Ellis has revealed that he would like to end his career back in Super League with Castleford Tigers. The 30-year-old, currently in his third year in NRL in Australia, is contracted to Wests Tigers until the end of 2013. He told the Australian Rugby League Week: "I'd love to go back to Castleford. It's the team I grew up watching home and away. "It'd be like my career played out perfectly," he added. "They're going pretty good. They're showing signs of improvement and they'll have a new stadium in a year or two. It would be good." Ellis was a junior at amateur side Castleford Lock Lane before joining Wakefield in 1999. He made his Super League debut that year and moved to Leeds in 2005, where he went on to make more than 100 appearances. He joined Wests Tigers in 2009 and has twice been voted their Player of the Year. Now he has called for an English team to play in the NRL, although he admits it is unlikely to ever happen. "Ideally, it would be great to see an England team in the NRL, where all the best players were playing for that team," he said. "It probably will never work but it would be a fantastic franchise. That would be the ideal. "With our game unable, at the moment, to challenge rugby union and soccer as a world game, it'd be worthwhile and it would be beneficial to England." I think that's fair enough. Contracted to WT until end of 2013, perfect. By the time his contract is up he'll be at an age when WT will probably be ready to let him go anyway. Do you think he's the best Englishman Tigers have brought out ? There's been some great ones.

Really he's just shooting the breeze. Someone probably asked him if he'd ever come back and play for Castleford and he said yeah it would be nice. Could be in 3 years, 5 years, or never…

I would have liked Gareth to have wanted to extend his contract with our club (if possible)
Since he has had these injuries, I wonder if he is starting to get a bit homesick. He has been such an asset and I will be sorry if he decides to leave :bawling

How could anyone leave the Aussie Sunshine….

He is a Cas boy, grew up watching Cas,but only played for Wakefield and Leeds,so he has never donned the Tigers jersey,me personally would love to see him finish at Cas.
He said he would"ideally like it",but that may never happen,he also said he would most likely come back to Aus after playing for Cas,he could become involved with our club again some way on his return.
The story was in RLW this week.

Good Luck to Him he has been one of our best since he come over and hopefully he can keep it up for a couple more years. i couldent stand to see him play for another NRL team but i understand him wanting to go back home, and at least he'd still be a tiger!
