On behalf of every punter who's stopped at your pub for a heart-starter en route to ANZ Stadium. On behalf of the people who line your pockets through their love of the Greatest Game of All.

I'll say it again, just like I did to your face on Saturday night: Boofhead. Your refusal to screen league throughout the venue was the most misconstrued display of pig-headedness I've ever suffered from a bar manager.

That's no mean feat because begging Sydney hoteliers to show league in the code's spiritual home has become a weekly ritual.

But Evan, your insistence on condemning the prime plasma to the Tri-Nations boredom of the All Blacks v Springboks blew the foam off this little duck's $6 plastic schooner. Had we been sipping Pims at the Sydney Flying Squadron Club, I might have understood.

They were there for one thing: Rugby league. Wearing Bulldogs and Knights jerseys, they piled into your bar to watch the earlier final between Gold Coast and Brisbane.

So how do you reward their patronage, Evan? By herding them to the 51cm tube TV in the corner while the plasma above the main bar showed a contest irrelevant to the crowd.

You represent the hospitality industry and what was your reason again? "Because I want to watch union.''

I'll never forget those words. For me they summed up 14 long winters of dealing with stubborn and misguided fools such as yourself at pubs and clubs around this frustratingly dysfunctional city. Every indicator proves league is the most dominant sport in Sydney.

So, why, oh why, is it so bloody difficult to get publicans to show the bloody game?
