Goal kicker

Is there anyone better than Brooks at the moment? I am guessing no, but without a recognized goal kicker, those (few) games in the balance will end up costing us even more. According to NRL stats he is close to 80% but they must have been mostly in front based on last night's effort.

I am resigned for this to be a transition year hence I don't see much value in engaging in Madge's tenure at the club (which I can't see extending past this year). For me, any game where we show up, will be a good game. Just wish I'd see something to make me believe and not the usual take it up for 5 and give it to Brooks for the Hail Mary. Which by the way, seems to be a rerun of last year. And the one before. And so on.

Hoping for better things to come. One day.

He only had 9 attempts at conversion prior to last night, hence the high %.

Brooks goal kicking is definitely a concern until we see Douiehi return (and who knows if he will be ready to even kick goals or to the same high standard once he returns from his knee injury).
Hastings might be an option? Although he could be a similar percentage kicker to Brooks.

Whatever the choice, for us to be successful in 2022, we need to go up by 6's!

If he nails 1 or 2 of those last night the game may have been different. Watching him he just doesn’t seem confident at all as a goal kicker.

The club should be trying to recruit a quality goal kicker ASAP

Putting this into perspective Brooks struggles to find more than ten metres kicking for touch; we smash top four teams more often than he kicks a 40/20; and forcing a line drop-out is Hastings' job. The only reason to give Brooks a conversion attempt from the sideline is to take time off the clock.

He doesn't seem to have any confidence at all, in any aspect of the game. A goalkicker would want to have that shot in the last minute to win a game. He doesn't look like that guy.

Horrible choice by someone.

This could become a huge issue in close games. If he doesn't improve it will cost us 3 or 4.

Conversely, if he starts banging them over it might finally get enough confidence in his game to get to realise his potential finally.

Lots of things in a state of flux with our team at the moment.
