HARLEY'S BIG DAY OUT WITH WESTS TIGERS
23/08/2011 3:36:36 PM
Wests Tigers and the Men of League Foundation made a special wish come true for 11-year-old supporter Harley Smith at the Sydney Football Stadium last Sunday.
The Dubbo boy was recently diagnosed with Juvenile Huntington’s disease, a degenerative genetic condition. His family were advised by medical experts that Harley would be bedbound before the age of 15 as the condition affects the mind and the body.
Harley’s school arranged for the ‘Make a Wish Foundation’ to provide a special experience and they asked Harley to do up a wish list. Harley couldn’t separate a trip to Disneyland or to see the Wests Tigers play live.
Men of League and Dubbo St John’s JRL arranged flights and accommodation for Harley, his mother, her partner and Harley’s sister.
Harley arrived at the ground in a Hummer arranged by Channel Nine.
Upon arrival, Harley met Andrew Johns and conducted the official coin toss with Wests Tigers Captain Robbie Farah and Parramatta Captain Nathan Hindmarsh.
He also had the privilege of leading the Wests Tigers team out onto the field.
Following the win over Parramatta, Harley was a special guest inside the Wests Tigers dressing room where he was able to meet the players and pose for photos and secure those all important signatures
Wests Tigers were delighted to have Harley as their guest and wish him and his family all the very best.
