Holiday destination

Shoal Bay, Port Stephens. We go every year for our family holiday. (2 kids 6 & 10). Great range of good accomodation right on the beach, cafes, restaurants, etc. Last time we were there dolphins swimming up and down the beach ever second day, penguins darting in and out of kids whilst paddling around on their body boards. My wife and I have been going there since we were kids and still find it hard to find anywhere better. One of the best part is it's only 2.5hrs from Sydney so even at the end of the holiday you don'r have this massive haul.

Courtyard Marriot Surin Beach, Phuket Thailand.

Great hotel, huge pool, waterslides. Only about $80-$100US a night incl b'fast.
Two minute walk to nice beach. Lots of local restaurants. Friendly people. Cheap beer. Went with 2-4-6 yr olds and they loved it.

Totally agree mate. Anywhere in asia or the pacific will give you a great holiday and will help the kids understand what they have back at home.

Thailand, not the main places but kosamiu I think that's how you spell it

I'm just back from 10 days in Fiji. Plenty of options from reasonably cheap to more expensive. I90% (if not more) of the tourists there are Australian. We just wanted somewhere relaxing and cheapish (after going to the US the last couple of years). The resorts seem to put on a stack of stuff for kids. We stayed at the Naviti which was all food plus all drinks (beer, wine, spirits). Not everything was perfect but the Fijian people are wonderful and it's pretty hard not to have a good time.

I love Fiji…Got married on Matamanoa island.

They are up there with the nicest people on earth.

Agree Pacey, Thailand is exceptional as a holiday destination. Koh Samui is not for families but there are a multitude of little islands off the coast that are.

It's probably not the best for kiddies, but Cambodia is amazeballs

imagine Thailand without bogan aussies and overdevelopment

This is an island I stayed on called Bamboo Island. It's covered in untouched jungle (aside from a small long-abandoned Soviet military post), there is no electricity and you just sleep all day in the sun:

oh and a small hut costs US$4 a night
a fresh (by fresh I mean caught from the water in front of you) Cambodian meal costs $1.50
You can live like a king for under US$10 a day

There are alot of beautiful places around Australia to go to. I went overseas in 2001 to America, but the trip turned to crap when crazy brainwashed idiots used planes as bombs.

That looks really nice!

I agree with this, AHX. India would rock their boat, as it would yours, KS. If you're after some adventure and spontaneity, then this is the place to go, as nothing ever goes to plan there! Or, if you're just after a nice relaxing time, then nothing beats going down the end of my street to Toowoon Bay - the best beach in the world, better than Fiji and much cheaper :stuck_out_tongue:

Love Cambodia mate been there about a dozen times now (a mate owns a bar in Siem Reap). It is a rapidly developing country but still extremely impoverished. Probably not an ideal place for kidlets but definetly when they get a bit older…
