a try hasnt been scored against us whilst bryce gibbs has been on the field this year…

ive been one of his biggest critics over the last few years, even wanted him punted from the club all together. however i dont think im exaggerating when i say he is close to form front rower in the comp atm.

you dont notice it on tv but at the ground its evident that his line spend is enormous and im confident if required he could play 70-80minutes. this year his hit ups have had a little more venom in them aswell. i think bryce gibbs has finally arrived

i think he matured a lot when liam left and kind of showed him how to work hard without him there and now that liam is back bryce must me enjoying his footy a lot more now and its showing in both attack and defence

Our form is fantastic when both Bryce and Galloway are on the field together. It would be a big ask, but NSW could do a lot worse than having these two partner each other. I think they complement each other well, KG is the Paul Harrigan type hard yards man who hits hard in defense, while Bryce is the more like Glenn Lazarus, works hard, cleans up, is superb in defense and plays a lot of minutes.

Agree with you there re. Gibbs and Galloway. I was a critic of Gibbs too, but I have started to realise his value in defence. Galloway gets a lot of kudos because he makes metres every time he runs the ball, but Gibbs contributes in another department and I think they compliment each other well. I just remember some of the try-savers he's pulled off, especially in the middle of the ruck as the last man in defence….Go Bryce!

I have been a long time bagger of Gibbs, happily eating some humble pie right now.

The back end of last season and this season so far he's been immense. Gets through a mountain of work for a prop, has to be one of the hardest working players in the comp. His defence is outstanding and he is finally starting to make an impact in attack and not get dominated.

He also plays heaps of minutes, which is a huge benefit.

Is this correct? Was Bryce off the field for that long during the Roosters game? Seems a bit strange TBH

Gibbs was injured and didnt play the Roosters.

I agree with the thread, Gibbs has certainly improved, especially in defence.
It makes me wonder though, would you still classify him as a front rower? To me the longer his career has gone on the more he has looked like a 2nd rower, probably because of his defence and clean up work, etc.

I agree…I think the NSW front row incl Robbie would go a long way in winning the origin this year...I am sure selectrors are thinking the same especially if their performances is consistant at the the current levels...Go the Tigers and go the Blues!!!

Ah thats right. My memory is going with my old age.

My one criticism of Bryce is that he is still looking to do something before the advantage line i.e. step or dummy. I noticed this in the Manly game and it really slowed down his momentum. He needs to not worry about fancy stuffy (it is not his game) and just cart the ball up as hard as possible. Galloway shows that nothing beats a full burst of steam.

im really loving the fact that these front rower and second rowers like bryce gibbs are moving the ball up the field alot quicker than past seasons, aswell as taking to ground the tackle and not looking for a dangerous offload at every moment. It has been lacking in other seasons but seems to be fine tuned. Lookin good fellas!

While it would be good experience for any of our players to play Origin, I really cant see any Tigers there this year. Ballamy already has a team penciled in and with the vast numbers of Backrowers they will need to squeeze in, I think they will only go with 3 Props.

Props - White, Weyman, Cross, Toleman & Galloway
Backrowers - Bird, Stewart, Watmough, Creagh, Gallen, Lewis, Waterhouse & O'Donnell

It all rests on Bird. If they decide to play Bird at 6, Ennis is a sure thing at 9\. If they play Bird at 13, Robbie may get a chance. While I cant stand Ennis, he did his job well in game 3 last year…

Bryce Gibbs is rapidly becoming one of my favourite Tigers - not so long ago he was one of my least favourite…

Gibbs has always had a big tank with good mileage and good speed. tackling has never been a problem either, just in the past its the brain explosions, discipline and his hit ups that have let him down. That seems to be changing, although i never see him as a meter eater style prop but thats okay

one of, if not the most improved tigers player of recent years. i along with many was one that gave the guy bad press but im thrilled with the player he's turned into. all the best to him and hopefully rep honours arent too far away for him.

Wouldnt swap him for anyone.

His will to win is second to none and his defence has always been top-shelf.

His game against Parra was outstanding.

Keep it up champ, some of us have always been supportive of your efforts.
