Is our team stronger this time around?

IMO Minus Tim Moltzen our team appears to be stronger this time around compared to last time we played the Eels with the additions of Lui, Fulton, Dwyer and McKinnon for Cayless, Flanagan and Fitzhenry. Hopefully the boys can step up and with the right attitude should get the same result. Just for those who are interested our team back in Round 3 was as follows. Good to see the nucleus of our team is still intact after 21 rounds

1.Ryan
2.Tuqiri
3.Lawrence
4.Ayshford
5.Brown
6.Marshall
7.Moltzen
8.Gibbs
9.Farah
10.Galloway
11.Payten
12.Ellis
13.Heighington

Reserves
14.Cayless
15.Fifita
16.Flanagan
17.Fitzhenry

Gibbs, Payten & Ellis had blinders defensively at the SFS… Bryce not being there will mean we arent as strong as last time, but after last week, our Offence is somewhat improving to help balance his loss.

Tough game which will be played in the middle for 60 minutes...

Has Gibbs been confirmed as out? If so having Fulton will help with the defence and hopefully Galloway and Fifita can have big games

As a guy at school was saying the other day, at least with Gibbs out, it means we won't concede 1-2 DUMB penalties that we have in the past.

Your mate obviously hasn't watched too many game this year… Gibbs has been far more disciplined than he has been in the past, and is a huge reason why we're in the finals this year...

And more often that not they have been penalties when the Tigers have been on the backfoot. He at least has managed to slow the game down in this regard and allow the Tigers defence to get set rather than concede a try on the next play.

I can cop Gibbo giving away the odd penalty. the bloke gets bagged, prodded and poked for it, but it's the amount of work he does off the ball, cleaning up in defence and for a prop, is a great cover defender. His work rate in 'D' is definitely one of the reasons why Wests find themselves in the Finals. His efforts along with Payten in tightening up the Tigers ruck area has been dearly appreciated by i'm sure his team mates, his Coach and by the fans who acknowledge his work rate. Gibbo is a 65-70min Prop. What other Prop in the game can put their hand up and say they play that amount of game time. He is a warrior. Get well soon Gibbo!

I can cop the odd penalty too, especially like the ones last sunday which almost certainly save a try
Some dont realise theyre intentional penalties, give the team a bit of a breather and chance to re-group

Gibbs also played 80 minutes against the Cowboys this year - that is simply unheard of for a prop. He's a machine.

I used to bag him endlessly and back then I thought he deserved it, but over the last 18 months he has really lifted his game.

I still think he could be more effective in attack, but he will never be a metre eater, just not that style of player. IMO he's just about the best defensive prop in the game.
