Is That Ian Schubert Knocking At The Door?

Just looking at our side on paper we have Tuqiri, Lawrence, Marshall, Farah, Ellis, Blair - these guys would all be on top tier contracts and would eat up half of our cap - i understand there would be 3rd party agreements involved with this group but there is a limit as to how much that would be - so forgetting 3rd party for the moment the other half of our cap goes to 19 players - now players like Galloway, Heighno, and to a lesser extent Ayshford and Dwyer wouldn't pe playing for peanuts. And now we are looking at upgrading contracts for our U20's to keep them - i might see if i can get the name of the Tigers accountant now that tax time is here.

There is no limit to non sponsor third party arrangements.

They all have to be signed off on before they are approved by the NRL.

It is a major reason why marquee signings can take longer to announce as there is a rigorous process to go through if a big name is changing clubs

And all this after the Rorters had years and years of buying every big name player who ever came onto the market. Makes you wonder who Schubert played for…?

Wests & Easts wasnt it?

I'd say Schubert was the reason the Blair announcement took so long… He has probably gone over everything with a fine tooth comb, and the Tigers are possibly in the best position of knowing what they have to spend.
