I heard from a very very reliable source that Israel folau is seeking to terminate his contract with GWS AFL club and is in talks with a few Sydney NRL clubs for 2012\. Apparently Parramatta have the inside running but being a local to our area is there any chance us Tigers could have a crack?

We may have possibly been shopping our players around to have a shot at him with the 500K
 
He would be useless to us becasue all he is good at is scoring trys off bombs and kicks which we don't do
 
The way I see it we only have a wing spot and fullback up for grabs. Folau is probably not good enough defensively for fullback so that leaves him on the wing. Do we really want close to $1 000 000 spent on wingers? That'd be about the dumbest decision in NRL history.
 
I dont know Tuqiri and Folau on the wings with Ayshford and Lawrence in the centres - sounds ok to me.

It wont happen but I wouldn't say no at the right price!

Sounds great Helmesy But I don't think any club in the NRL will get near the figure he will want . But dreams are free .
 
I dont know why but I would just rather spend the next couple of years hearing about how much he hates the game.
The AFL wanted him in the hope that the polynesian community in particular will pick the sport up, but all these constant bad rumours about him could be backfiring on the AFL instead.
 
Have you seen him lately? He's built like a super model. Would need to put on 10kg at least to have any sort of impact in the NRL, even under the high ball. He just wouldn't have the strength to compete when he's built like a bean pole.
 
So who would we get rid of to get him ? Woods, BMM, Hino, he aint worth the effort - he chased the big bucks at AFL - suck it up big boy.

Good post.

No doubt Folau is gun, but he made the decision.
AFL sucks & as already mentioned Tiquri, Folau, Lawrence, Ayshford would be awesome….
But will never happen, but I've been wrong before :wink:
 
After we sign Blair their will be next to no cap space available for 2012\. Although we have shed a lot dollars off our cap in recent weeks we still have very little cap space available. The players we shed was more about balancing the books rather than creating space. Might be room for a couple of journey men on near base contracts but dont get your hopes up for any other names especially big Izzy
 
Not even close to interested at the kind of wage he'd command. Sounds like the kind of signing that could screw a club up for years. I hope his agent has Souths on speed dial.
