Strong side going by some of the names. Big front row, Simpkin could cause some damage if the forward pack do their job.

Front row are hitters.

Surprised there's no discussion on this match which was undoubtedly the highlight of the day.
The front row was extremely dominant. Simpkins was superb. Lui was a monster. Mavoni was very strong.

While we had our starting side in the field we were in control. They scored a few tries as we mixed up our roster a lot.
Rizk scored a great length of the field solo effort. Simpkins with a try and 2 assists. Stevanovic controlled the game well. The outside backs all looked strong and fast.
Logan Muir on the bench looked like a Carl Webb monster on the bench. Sykes was excellent in attack and defence.

Considering the amount of talent to drop back from the nrl trial things are looking very promising for our hopes in Flegg this season

Thanks for the info Balmain boy. Just on the players that will drop back, is it best for there development they play Canterbury Cup? Also good to see few QLD kids in the Flegg side.

Good to know our wingers can go the 100 and also we have our local juniors playing well.

It's hard to say at this stage where everyone will land.

Hoffman and Cini have impressed in the off-season so you'd think they'd start in CC. Simpkin probably too, but we did sign the young hooker from Parra to play CC too. With Johns in the backs in CC and others like Talau, Bradley, Smith, and one or two of Jennings, Nof Thompson, the backs will be pretty full. Scolari, Dillon, Kei might get a run in CC at some stage but will likely start the year in Flegg. But the guys who started the Flegg trial all looked pretty capable, and that still included having young Ceiza on the bench.

So some players who should be playing CC will unfortunately be stuck in Flegg for a while. But then that's a sign of depth that quality players can't get an immediate callup to a higher grade.

I imagine big EJ Lui will follow a similar path to Mikaele, start off in Flegg and move up to CC at some stage during the year.

It would be handy if a few of the current top 30 that Madge doesn't seem to rate move on, but they need other clubs willing to take them too.

We really could have taken Rizk to the 9s. He would have been our young live-wire like other clubs had, eg Metcalfe and the guy from the Dragons. Had experience playing for Lebanon in the 9s and can play anywhere 1-6, fast and skillful. Just needs to fill out his frame.
