Joel Reddy prepared to play anywhere on the field for Wests

DEPARTING Parramatta centre Joel Reddy says he is prepared to play wing, fullback or even in the back-row for the Wests Tigers next year.

Faced with the near-impossible task of replacing first-choice Tigers centres Chris Lawrence and Blake Ayshford, Reddy knows he will have his work cut out when he joins his new club.

The 25-year-old told the Tigers he was prepared to shift from centre and play several positions when he put pen to paper earlier this month.

"I've played wing, fullback and can play back-row, I'm happy to play anywhere, and I'm sure once I get to the Tigers, Tim will have something figured out for me," Reddy said.

"It's not Tim's biggest concern at the moment, he's got this season to worry about, but come pre-season and when he gets a closer look at me he can work out where I might best be suited to the team."

Lawrence has a mortgage at left centre while Ayshford has proven a revelation on the right again this season and looks set to push for representative honours in the coming years.

Fullback looms as the most likely option for Reddy with Wade McKinnon bound for England and Tim Moltzen the Dragons.

Reddy, who has already played his final game for the Eels because of a pectoral injury, said he could not be happier with his rehabilitation.

Reddy said he had resumed running and light weights and the setback would not impact on his pre-season with the Tigers.

The Eels have struggled in the centres this year because of injuries and will use their 10th combination on Monday against Melbourne with Ben Smith and Justin Horo.

Sounds like he knows he won't be first choice centre, which is fair enough. Could be a two-way tussle for fullback if Brown is re-signed.

Reddy would be good at fullback, safe under the high ball, great defender and big,he will run the ball back hard, how his support play goes will be the key.

Bit of smoke and mirrors there. A bloke like reddy wouldn't have signed unless he knew what the coaches plans were for him. I'm guessing he'll be our number 1 next year.

Unless he was desperate for a contract. Parramatta weren't willing to resign him and happily let him go…

When Humprey's was talking about shifting Benji into fullback, it seems like their plans are being kept open. Sheensy seems to like signing versatile players, not experts.

I'd say Sheens will test both Reddy and Grant out at fullback and see if either excel.

Would be happy for Reddy to play full back next year.

If Sheens really wanted Brown at full back he would be playing there now.

Reddy is a very good defender and will bring the ball back with pace.

an injury prone player who plays for an average team… i dont think he is exactly in a position to be demanding a starting position...

Yeah next years back row…

11\. Ryan
12\. Reddy
13\. Fulton

Seriously I reckon Joel will be a handy pick-up, perhaps we start him at fullback and give Grant some time to adjust to the game in state cup bringing him up after 6-8 weeks.

I think we are looking pretty darn good for 2012.

From what i read for dailytelagraph ppl comments eels fans are saying his a big loss gud player and some ppl said bulldogs should of signed him good gain for tigers so he will be great i think

fullback for sure ….moltz gone,,mckinnon gone,,,mullaney way out of favor....but gee you just never know...

we might even see him don the 8 or 10 ....aysh will probably move to the pack,to make way for reddy ....wests didnt sign him for 2 years to not play him .....
on papaer the backline is starting to look pretty hot ...is there even a spot for brown or ryan ..barring injuries ...

Your exactly right with this comment, Reddy or Grant will be our fullback.

the smart thing to do would be to start grant on the wing ,,he could be another tank in the making ,,and with his pace lookout for the benji ball out wide ….
