Coach Taylor, you came here telling all and sundry that our defense needed immediate attention.

You've been here for 2 seasons now and our defense is still way below top 4 standard.

This will be your last season unless you greatly improve the team's defense. Buy more tackling bags and defense-orientated players.

Your coaching clock is ticking.
 
He needs guys who can be taught how to read the play of each team each week, all the different angles, combinations etc. to recognise them when first being loaded into the gun so have the greatest chance of thwarting them. As they are professional full time players they should have the time to learn it.

But you can't ruddy do it if they are playing musical chairs with positions. Give the game away if we are going to resort to that.

That is it in a nutshell, JT was prepared to move 3 players out of position to get rid of Farah, real smart coaching, not. :angry:
 
yeh for sure.

He certainly made a clear point that our defence sucks for 1 year and a bit. He's had two seasons and tbh, it hasn't gotten any better. He has to address it ASAP.
 
Unfortunately the budget for 2017 has already been blown on witches hats…

He has survived two pretty ordinary seasons so far. Personally I don't care if we are the best defensive team in the comp unless that also means we make the finals at the very least.

I hope he gets sacked if we have another underperforming year but I don't think that he is definitely going to be given the sack. I also don't think he would now stand by his stupid comments regarding fixing the defence being as easy as just waving his hands ala the Jedi mind trick.
 
The 05 team was remembered as a great attacking side what is often over looked is how well they defended.
 
We dont need to be the best defensive team because we have amazing players that can score from anywhere. However we need to make teams earn their tries. Our middle was pretty solid, but our edge defence was rubbish. Hopefullly with a revised top 25 (with idris in there) players know they will need to perform or risk playing reserve grade.

In some games they did, but in others they were the same old cream puffs .
Luckily they were able to put in some great defence in both the Final and GF,
When it mattered.
Unlike most of the present lot.

The premiership rounds they were 10th in defense overall

Got it together in the four weeks of the semis though
 
It was more our scrambling defence that got us through the '05 finals series. Certainly weren't a superior defending unit.

Yep, our scrambling defence was what got us there. We still missed a few but the players kept turning up and made the tackles.
 
tackling bags are about as useful as practicing to drive while the car is parked.

Have to agree with BBF. The tackling is not the major issue, it's reading and reacting to plays and more importantly doing it together. Our right side at times looked like they had their lips stitched together and their eyes shut.
 
If kev has to tackle a bag and there are 2 on the field he would probably get confused and run between them.

Actually they purchased invisible ones and our players are tackling invisible players only visible to people on macro-biotic glutten-free diets
