Kyle Lovett-will we finally see him in 1st grade next year?

Some are saying that Siro, Sitaleki and Sue will be starting back rowers next year

But is K Lovett a smokey for next year? What was his form like this year in State Cup and as he stepped up and handled the bigger lads? I can recall him in under 20s being tough as nails and he seemed like a solid defender; destined for 1st grade. Is he physically ready for first grade?

Do we think he is higher up in the pecking order than Liolevave, Funaki, Santi, Fine whom many are suggesting will be likely replacements for Fulton, Bodene and Blair.

Very, very raw in the second row next year. God help us. Dale Finucane would be a handy addition but certainly no world beater. Lawrence in the second row sounds great in theory but we all know he lacks ticker. I love Halatau as a clubman but let's face it he is not the answer.
 
Lawrence lack ticker…Don't think so

Given our injury history Lovett may get his shot....
 
I don't think he has shown signs of improving. He's still young though, he could still come good.

I'm not a fan of Lawrence lately but to say he lacks ticker is off the mark. Bad hands bad speed bad footwork yes. But he doesn't lack effort or ticker

Let me rephrase… he lacks mongrel and "hustle". You could slap him and he still wouldn't fire back.

Maybe it's a maturity thing. Hopefully he can prove me wrong next year. Build some confidence early in the year and turn out to be our Luke Lewis.
 
Well guys,I think quite a few of the young unknowns will be given a chance next year…
JT has to find out who can and who can't compete in the rigorous NRL first grade side..
As I have said previously,the step up to FG is a huge one and as we have seen before great talented kids seem to dwindle away under the pressure...
 
Not sure about Lovett. Looks a bit one-dimensional for my liking, but he's only 21 and can still improve. As for Lawrence, well he's having his first real pre-season in several years so hopefully he has an improved season next year.
 
Hahahahaha Lovett lacks mongrel ,his old man was one of the toughest players I played with in his junior days .the apple never falls too far from the tree .have some faith ,Taylor is a great coach with the young guys .
 
Lawrence is looking fittest I have seen him. Size Looks like he will be in backs to Me. Looking fit as.

So, first of all Lawrence lacks ticker and then he is immature? One sentence for you, "Grow up, sonny."

Leave me out of the "we" that thinks that lawrence lacks ticker please. Don't know where you got that from.
I've never seen Chris shirk anything on the field at any time and doesn't deserve that comment. I doubt you will get many here
to agree with you. His only problem is a loss of some pace and lateral movement after a major injury. Certainly nothing to do with a lack of heart
 
I don't know much about Lovett but I hope he does well next year..

As for Lawrence,I think he gives his best in every game with what he has,especially after such a serious almost career ending injury…
 
I wish some of your young players had the mongrel of Nathan Brown.
 
The answer to the OP is that yes Lovett is now way down the pecking order for first grade. He is merely a solid player with a few leadership skills. He can't break the line, rarely offloads and doesn't make huge metres in attack.

While similar to Santi, Lovett doesn't have his workrate or desperation. He didn't stand out at all last season in NSW Cup.

Lodge is the mongrel we've been looking for, and thankfully now have! 3 times the player of Brown or Lovett.
