OFFICIAL Lachlan Galvin #277

The fact he is tied up with us till the end of 2026 certainly works in our favour. Some clubs will be reluctant to wait to 2027 to get his services. It also gives us a big bargaining chip.

Unless we are offered a top shelve player in return I would not even consider a early release, and come November he signs elsewhere, he is out of the no6 role.

I am trying to work this out.

So he is 85kg and tallish at 193cm.
As a back he will go alright but I am worried about him making tackles. He has the muscle so it works out.

As a forward... I just see a ragdoll.

Sure in attack he would be a nice and energetic lock. Then in defense he would just face 100kg monsters...
Latu is around 88kg but he has strong defence and has genuine pace to cover in defence. For a team which struggles with defence, these are important attributes. Marshall has a decision to make about which young player will receive the tuition from being paired with Luai. Imo, this is not a decision that can be delayed. The nonsense from Galvin's camp about other clubs bringing their cheque books should inform Marshall of what will happen notwithstanding the numerous requests for release last summer.

That’s his current size. Put an extra 10kg on and he would go well at 13
Thats a big call though.

Which is what worries me.
"Hey this guy who in reserve grade, carved it up at 13. Currently is playing 5/8 and doing decent?... lets add 10kg of muscle on him and assume he can keep carving it up in another position".

When Ingles bulked up, his game really changed. You really have to strengthen the knees and have a totally different fitness program. I don't see that sophistication from our training staff.

People can be absolute Hero's in reserve grade. Jayden Sullivan for example. First grade is a different beast. Yes Lawrence made that transition from Center to front row, and did OK. With Galvin it's likewise a transition and what if he only does OK?

Plenty of media chat this week about Galvin to Parra. Just saw a clip of Joey speaking as though he's already signed there.

If he's going hopefully they sort it soon. Constant speculation is tiring and we don't need it. If he's leaving we should chuck Latu in now.

worst thing is,
they've got absolutely nothing worth looking to swap for.

Add to that,
Galvin may have his brother "in training" with us. But we have Samuela, Sione and Latu signed.

Were not going to have this stupid "will he or won't he" stay. Being honest, NRL 5/8's grow on trees.
Sure good Halfbacks are rare, but 5/8's are easy enough to get. If Latu doesn't work at 5/8, he could be moved to FB, Center or elsewhere.

Galvin has refused to play Center. IMHO he would be better there and we had a clear gap there.

That said, Latu hasn't shown the right attitude at Training. If he isn't going to work hard, well bench for you.

This player agency has that same pattern of players simply dropping off in form, like Galvin has in his 5 or 6 last games. I don’t think Benji has the nads to drop Galvin, but would be great for Latu to get a few games.

I was thinking about this the other day . When we talk about building a club around someone , how often does that player insinuate they want to leave. .
Like Cleary, the only time it was even mentioned was when his dad was here , and his dad went back there to squash it.
Trobojevic brothers ? Has that ever even been mentioned .
Teddy since he went to the roosters ?
How often does a player who is all about the money ,and getting the best deal , actually be the best player in the best club .?
Is it really a good idea to give the money to Galvin , if we have to go to overs to get him to re-sign . And build the club around him . I dunno . Even Luai coming here , is also about affecting change in your childhood club . There’s an emotional investment .
