OFFICIAL Lachlan Galvin #277

Apparently the “Benji can’t coach “ thing is coming from Luke Vella . Assistant at the dogs .
soo yea . Also it’s coming from Wayne Lambkin (former NSW cup coach here lol) and the Manly recruitment manager who was also at westfields.
Some historic level white anting out of wests fields.
News flash Lachie, plenty of kids won a stack of schoolboy games. You’re in the pros now and your teammates and coach have actual premiership rings.

Stop listening to dead beats.

Chammas saying Benji is at fault because he favours luai , and Galvin felt like he wasn’t the special flower anymore because he had to give way to Luai . And that he’s adopting a player culture , that is dividing the team .
He went hard at Benji , brought up klemmer and and Bateman as well (both Moses clients) saying he was off them and moved them on . lol
For me I reckon he was off them because they were Moses clients , and knew all this was about to kick off .
Hes also banished the other Nrl squad player (not Bula ) Tumeth who’s managed by Moses.
If that is in fact the case, my respect for Benji has magnified.

The Lachie Galvin carry-on?

Friends, when it comes to hyperbolic hypocrisy, when it comes to bullying bastardry, when it comes to sheer shittiness in rugba league, I think we have a post-war record, yes? (Which is saying something.)

Tigers young gun Lachlan Galvin breaks his silence on the decision to leave the club at the end of 2026.

For those who’ve joined us late, Galvin is the 19-year-old wunderkind of the newly resuscitated Wests Tigers, a great player who’s been carving ’em up a little like Benji Marshall in his prime. He’s got verve in his swerve, Veuve in his make-up. He plays champagne rugby league that is a joy to watch!

But here’s the thing. Marshall is now Galvin’s coach, and despite the Tigers recently tabling a $5.5 million offer for five years of the young man’s services, Galvin quietly declined. He did not loudly decline. He quietly declined. All the noise since has come from Tigers management and players. It is understood that the reason for Galvin declining to sign the contract is not because he wants more money, necessarily, but because he thinks he might become a better player under another coach, and that Marshall is not necessarily his kind of coach.

Cue, the said hyperbolic hypocrisy, the bullying bastardry, the sheer shittiness led by – of all people – Jarome Luai, who went so far as to put on his Instagram account an image of god-knows-what, emblazoned with the words: “Team first.”

Sorry, what?

“Team first,” Jarome?

YOU’RE the one saying that? Is that the approach you took, when leaving the team you were born and bred to, the one that raised you as a footballer, the one writ large in your very DNA, Penrith? Or did you just observe the greatest of all rugby league traditions – the very one that the game was founded on in 1908 – to take the money and run?

Well, you’re right, you didn’t quite do that.

For in your case, you paused long enough to put a clause in your contract with the Tigers saying you reserved the right to talk to other clubs at the end of this year, and depart after the 2026 season, if you weren’t happy with the way things were going – or, clearly, if you got a better offer. Can you see much “team first” in that clause, Jarome?

You were joined by Api Koroisau, in the delegation that went to see Marshall on Monday to say you didn’t want to play with Galvin any more, and he should be dropped.

You, Api Koroisau, you? Mate, you didn’t even resist the big bucks as long as Luai did, but left the ’Riff two years ago! Who the hell are you to wring your hands and say Galvin has let the side down by choosing to do precisely what you did?

Two other Tigers players have publicly joined the carry-on, turning on their 19-year-old teammate – and the end result is that Galvin has, unbelievably, been dropped to the NRL’s version of reserve grade.

For what, exactly?

Seriously, to be a player as good as Galvin and find yourself in the NSW Cup, you’d have to think he was guilty of at least one cardinal sin – not going out drinking with the boys after the game? – if not two, but I can’t see any. I repeat: everything he did was quiet. All the noise has come from the Tigers, now leading a baying mob of NRL fans, and Galvin has merely responded to it.

And you, Benji, want to tear him a new one for chasing the money? Which one of you, or your players, hasn’t? The only one I can think of in recent times would be ... Lachie Galvin. As far as we know, money is not the driving force in this imbroglio. He simply doesn’t think Marshall is a great coach. Is this not his right?

The end result of the whole debacle is a Tigers train wreck. Bodies, everywhere. Ill will abounding all around. The Tigers were just back on track, starting to win for the first time in yonks. And now this. Through gross mismanagement, what should have been a minor affair has blown up, de luxe, resulting in one of their star players being sidelined and vilified by all and sundry. Seriously, the online hate against him is extraordinary. (Not quite as bad as the hate your humble correspondent gets when I opine that COVID vaccinations were a good thing that saved millions of people, but close.)

And he’s 19!

Get in the bin, the lot of you hypocrites and bullying bastards.

Oh, and if you’d like to discuss it, I’ll either be in my trailer, or hiding behind JT on the sidelines.
Is Fitzy lobbying for Galvin to shift to RaRa?

I would think Richo will put a stop to it pretty quickly. He's let a few have a crack to get it out of their system, and now concentrate on Monday. Back to business!
If they don’t it’s going to classed as harassment and could have far reaching implications in this day and age. First thing would be a fast exit for Galvin, then some personal punishment of individuals concerned. And possible legal action !!

Completely different though Turuva easily repaid the investment in him by the Panthers, Galvin hasn't. I still what about it is bullying
It’s piling on . Mob mentality ! It is ! I don’t know what to say … it’s funny and justified , if the rumours that Galvin was a knob and has been anything but remorseful or contrite within the locker room .
But yea . The Luai one . Is just leadership , the others is piling on , mob mentality stuff . But to fair to Turuva he posted it to the private group I’m sure they’re all in .
Someone in that group dogged him out … hopefully it wasn’t another tigers player !

Holy strawman and goalpost shifting Batman.

Firstly, I literally said we keep him in reserve UNLESS we get an offer for someone like Preston or Haumole.

Secondly, Galvin is on no more than 350K which is nothing considering the cap space we already have for next year so try again.

Thirdly, sticking Galvin in the reserves does nothing to hurt the team, especially considering the senior players requested him to be taken out of first grade. So tell me how him being in reserves is the opposite of team first? And don’t tell me it’s his gameplay because you’ll all but confirm you haven’t been watching the games this season

Lastly, Moses minions have already been peppering the media with those stories about the club and Benji ever since Galvin requested a release last year so you’re going to have come up with another bullshit argument.

And no the solution is not releasing a joint statement about the two sides backing each other after what has occurred which btw is one of the dumbest ideas ever floated on this forum so congratulations
you don't think first grade players will play for the reserve grade team? Mason, Naden, Laulili etc?
the longer Galvin plays in reserve grade, the more he declines in value. He's worth 700k+ for this year and next, and according to you if he's on 300k- that's atleast 800k extra for 2 years.

A joint statement, individual statement, doesn't matter- a statement needs to be released to show that we are still looking after him. He's contracted to us, he's still our responsibility whether we like it or not and we need to show that we look after our contracted players.

The more you make it a Tigers vs Galvin situation, the worse it is for both parties. Internally, do whatever you want, but in public, you need to show solidarity for whoever is contracted to us.

Going by the way senior players have been so vocal with 3 now publically criticizing Galvin, I think the team has been off him for a while.

Players never dis players even at other clubs let alone players at their own club and never publically.

For a 19 to kid to be trashing the coach, senior players and his manager to take a 7 point grievances list to the CEO is ludicrous.

I suspect he has been pretty free and easy with his views in the dressing room and his overinflated ego.

The chickens are coming home to roost and I for one am proud to see the team call galvins shit out. Stand by the coach, CEO and club and the culture they are building 🐯🐯🐯
Also my thoughts. I'd go as far as to say this has been having a negative impact on our attack too. Actually really looking forward to seeing what the new Tigers can do without Galvin in their stifling them. Have a feeling there may be improvement even with AD in there this week, let alone when Latu comes back into the side

This bloke has just become the king of false equivalence... and apparently its ok now to say something about your coach with no repercussions?

Does he also not remember all the prior leaks on the release requests from his agent?

Man moses has some ignorant people out there who swallow his spin.

We have made our point now and put him in his place, I agree the club has to be smarter, if this happened in any corporate workplace, the proverbial would hit the fan in a big way.

I am just waiting for one of these reporters to mention what Jarome said when he left Panthers about "knowing your worth" I think that everyone has their choice in life and if Galvin doesn't want to be here we go out and get those who do.

I used to deal with Peter Fitzsimmonds when I used to work in North Sydney, you won't find a more arrogant, pretentious wanker in Australia, used to make ridiculous demands and just speak to everyone like we were beneath him. He's a real gem that one.

Money talks

If that is in fact the case, my respect for Benji has magnified.
Makes sense . I’m sure after the Bateman “don’t you know who I am “ dummy spit last year , funnily enough over another Moses client , and Galvins petulance since coming back , I think purely he’s probably just put a line through Moses and all his clients .
Klemmer leaving was pure business . He’s a bench player for the dragons right now . And barely hanging on … it would have been malpractice to re-up that contract for the final year .
To me every single Moses client comes with toxicity . Even Tumeth was told he didn’t have what it took to be a first grade player and we tried to buy his contract out, had some stories about his attitude . Seems like a constant narrative . Probably perpetrated by Isaac.
He sees Benji as low hanging fruit he can exploit .

Say what you want about Gus, but reading all the articles- he sums up the situation best on his podcast.

People will cut snippets of his quotes to help their narrative, but if you listen to his whole take on it, he hits the nail on the head.

People still are mesmerised by the good things Galvin does on the field , so what he’s saying is … Galvin >>>> AD . That’s what he means. Galvin absolutely killed our attack on Sunday . It was driving me crazy . So many times he just need to straighten and feed the ball along and he decided to crab across field and run in between the 2 and 3 man defenders where the centres and edge back rower should be running . It drove me crazy to be honest .
If that’s the rest of 2025 version of Galvin , which I’m guessing he’s been told by his management to play that way to put himself in the shop window.
I’d rather luai on the left with the ball in his hands zipping around , and AD giving early ball to Toa and Bula down the right .
Galvin is the 4th best player in our spine . No matter how good he is .
He’s not better than luai , he’s not better than Bula and he’s definitely not better than Api . And only the biggest homers of all time , can say what I just said isn’t true .
People think because Galvin has the try assists that he’s all the attack , when in reality , the gameplan was setup so whoever had the ball in that situation was to make that play .
Like the Toa try . People saying it was Galvins try assist that put toa in the hole .
He literally just passed Toa the ball . Toa , changed his line and moved in and away while the ball was in flight , and wrecked Best before he caught the ball . Zero of that was Galvin . But because he passed the ball OMG …..
like half the tries we scored in previous weeks were because Luai sucked in a whole bunch of defenders gets it to the edges for Galvin or Bula to draw and pass and get the stat sheets glory . There’s 1 try I give Galvin that was all him , but I think it was coaching in the first place to point out the wings stay up and are exposed behind .
Was the kick to Luke down the edge a couple of weeks ago . Other than that , you can tell there’s game plans around who to target in defence , and and he’s just executing on those game plans . To be honest with luai there , the percentage of really 1 in 4 strike rate on taking advantage of these defensive errors , I think increase exponentially . And the right side IMO , is not like this creative masterclass , it’s giving with to Toa and Turuva and watch them work their magic .
Bula pushing up also put Best in two minds, giving Toa that little more space.
