Pretty sure the clock stops on a try, then restarts once the goal is kicked, goes 45 seconds at most, and then time off is blown when the kickoff to resume play is taken.

It's not that big a change.

If 2 tries are scored, it maybe extends play 60-90 seconds at best.

I wish they would do time off with every stoppage in the last 5 minutes - of each half - really tests out the stamina of the players, on then there is no need to reduce the interchange.

Thanks mate. Talking about stamina it's given me a thought. How about only 1 interchange allowed after the 65 minute and interchange for players being injured due to foul play.
