Lawrence off to the backrow?

Luke Lewis started on the wing and ended up representing NSW and Australia as a back rower from some pretty crappy Penrith and Cronulla teams….

Lawrence hits the ball up from our own end like a back rower now and is quite effective...He also wouldn't have to play the full 80 if we roll with a 4 forward bench

I'd like to see it happen....could be the saving of his career....

I'm with you, Geo.
I think he might surprise a few people.
It was noticeable during the back end of the year how he seemed to take more than his fair share of runs out of our territory.
Funnily enough I read an article about our depth, listed by position, a few weeks ago and Chris was down in both the centre and second row positions.

Happy, have you started drinking gin?

No CK , I'm just sticking to swallowing reality at the moment

It tastes like garbage and you can't get rid of the taste from your mouth

I suggest others do the same to avoid embarrassment and a huge reality check by Round 12

I thought Lawrence played his best football this season on the right side of the ruck. No reason he can't be the right side backrower. Side of the field means less in the forwards.

I agree with King Sirro - Lawrence to the backrow is not a bad move. He is the best hole runner in the squad and could play in a similar fashion like Josh Jackson. A good off-season, different mind set and confident start in the trials could see Chris revive his career and also the fans confidence in him.
If not the poor bloke will become the whipping boy for the fans this year following in the footsteps of Fitzy. I am hoping for everyone sakes he has a good season whatever position he plays.

So Nofoaluma ,Simona ,Lawrence and Moses Right side defence

Sorry that didn't really help me either

Talking about who Lawrence will defend with happy doesn't worry me. It actually fills me with confidence. His defence is outstanding. He got caught out in the centre's due to it being the hardest position to defend where you need sharp lateral movement to compete with the centre's these days. Closer in Lawrence will Excel defensively and could easily be a great protector for Brooks, much like Tonie Carroll used to be. I'm sensing you won't agree with that at all, but I really think he will relish that job.

In theory the move seems like it could be a good one …all the arguments FOR are hard to argue with... but for some reason I just dont see him as a forward transistion succesful

MacDougall I agree with u about Lawrence on the right. I think he has been played left all his career to his own detriment. I have been calling for him to play on the right for years and like u say, his short time there he looks better.

He is the perfect example of how crap it is these days that kids come through playing only one side of the field.

Junior footy should have a rule that wingers, centres, backrowers and halves must play both sides of the field. No idea how that could be policed, but at least it will bring it to the attention of junior coaches. Junior Rugby leagues around the country have brought in so many silly rules over the years that one more won't hurt.
