Overrated player.

Glad I'm not the only one who has ever thought this.

Always had quality around him, never played for an average team, and the one year he did he had a big sook and got the coach sacked.

He's a good player. Has plenty of ticker. But not the all heralded genius he's made out to be.

I can already hear Happy Tiger frothing at the mouth….. sorry Happy - I... I didn't think he was as great as everyone north of the tweed made out...

Remember when Benji had his little incident at Mickie D's at the start of last season and it was alledged that the bloke said the Lockyers a better player

Benji said in a interview that If he had of said that , he would of agreed

So if Lockyer is overrated and Benji said that he thinks that Locky is a better player , where does that leave Benji ….............

Something to remind you of also When you make the Qld team and Australian (well the Qld team with Gallen and a couple of others) you are going to play with quality players

Unlike NSW ...... where you have lots of quality players to pick but they get missed and complete drongos are chosen (Not Robbie though)

Like you - I am a true student of the game over decades and apparently watch about 80% more current games than most of the **busteds and kiddies on this site (who - along with ink & GNR - have made it unbearable to bother being a part of)!!!**
Forget about the ignorant morons who still cannot see the quality of Lockyer!

In major games - he made more game defining/winning plays than Wally, Sterlo, Bert, Freddie, Joey and Alfie at their best!!!

A true champion despite his off-field dalliances.

I am 19 and therefore a "kiddie", my opinion is invalid due to my age. The next logical step is for me to stop posting entirely as it will only disrupt the "adults" entertainment gained from this forum. :crazy

Always makes me laugh when adults are less mature than "kiddies".

:laughing: I have read some rubbish on this site before…even contributed some of my own...

BUT for anyone to claim that Locky was over rated and/or not a deadset champion of this game is ridiculous in the extreme. It is ludicrous and smacks of an intense ignorance of rugby league.

- He had a brilliant kicking game - both short and long
- He had a brilliant passing game - with vision that very few have ever possessed.
- He had a brilliant running game - his effortless running style saw him slide around the field before bursting through gaps that his own footwork created.
- He was a champion fullback who won 3 GF's, on top of representing his state and country numerous times and dominating. He won the golden boot in this position.
- He then became a champion 5/8...again winning a GF whilst dominating at state and International level. Once again recieving the golden boot in this position.
- He was a fantastic leader of men. At club, state and international level he inspired those around him.
- He played 355 club games for the Broncos scoring 1195 career points.
- He played 36 SOO matches and won 6 series as the captain.
- He played 59 tests for Australia - 38 as the captain.
- In his final year, he captained a young Broncos side to the finals, helping them to reach the preliminary final after scoring the match winning O/T field goal in a war v Saints....with a smashed cheek bone. He captained the Queenslanders to a 6th straight series win and captained the Kangaroos to a 4 nations series win in England.
- He achieved all this whilst being very slight in body size...he is also one of the toughest I have ever seen...

The bloke is a future immortal and those that disagree are either pushing an agenda or are just talking BS. He deserves respect and to call him over rated is laughable.
