Lote Tuqiri, Taniela Tuiaki in Tiger power play

LOTE Tuqiri will tomorrow be named in the Wests Tigers squad to play the Manly Sea Eagles this Monday night - fans now just weeks away from seeing the most powerful wing combination in NRL history.

Wests Tigers coach Tim Sheens will pick Tuqiri in his side for SFS match - despite the former Wallaby having just four full days to prepare.

Tuqiri finished his rugby union commitments yesterday when his English side, Leicester, scored a 35-19 win over London Irish.

And Tigers fans will be just as elated at news the club's other powerhouse winger, Taniela Tuiaki, is on his way to recovering from three ankle operations.

There were suggestions Tuiaki may not play this season but the massive winger should be back within eight weeks - if not earlier.

It will give Wests Tigers two giant wingers, Tuqiri standing 191cm and weighing 104kg, Tuiaki at 183cm and weighing 105kg.

Tuqiri will arrive back in Australia on Wednesday and immediately start training in preparation for the Sea Eagles game.

"He will be announced in the side," Sheens revealed yesterday.

"Lote played this morning so we have to determine whether he gets back in fair shape and how he pulls up. But unless there is an obvious reason, he will participate in the game.

"As for how long, I would only be surmising and I don't want to do that just yet. I want to check on his frame of mind. We don't want to embarrass him by playing him when he's not ready. We will have to judge the situation when we see him."

Tuiaki's injury was a massive worry for the club - but it now appears he is recovering well.

Wests Tigers assistant coach Royce Simmons said Tuiaki's prognosis was much more positive than was thought a month ago.

"Taniela will now start to build up his ankle again," Simmons said. "Whether he is back in four, five, six or eight weeks will depend on how he recovers. But we think now he will play again this year."

Tuqiri told the English media he simply wanted to play footy in Australia again.

"My wife and I are both quite sad and it will be tough to leave," Tuqiri said before the London Irish game.

"The fact that I was going back home clinched it but Leicester made it very hard.

"What would have been a lot more clear-cut before I got here, in terms of going back home, was nowhere near as clear-cut at the end. I would recommend the club to other players if they fancied a move overseas."

Yeah spoke to my mate who works as a physiologist with Ronald and Tuiaki was in today. He's expected to lose no pace, and won't have any side effects once fully recovered from the injury he received last year. He can't put an exact date on Tuiakis return but Round 8 as stated in the article is pretty spot on.

Salivating at the thought of Tuqiri and Tuaki on the flanks! In a few weeks time we could be looking at something like this:

1\. Tim Moltzen
2\. Taniela Tuiaki
3\. Blake Ayshford
4\. Chris Lawrence
5\. Lote Tuqiri
6\. Benji Marshall
7\. Robert Lui

wow

I think another reason he has come back to the NRL is he wants to play more State Of Origin. I am glad we have signed him. I think he will go well. He still sounds hungry for success and we are gonna need him, especially whilst Taniela is out.

Cant wait to see Lote run on this week. Not too sure if its the best option to start him, but I'm sure he will only take a few weeks to get up with the speed of the NRL. Lets Hope Tim has a plan, as I'm sure Lyon & Foran will send plenty of traffic his way, and we all know Tim Moltzen isnt the best in reading defence…

3\. Ayshford
4\. Lawrence
5\. Tuqiri
6\. Marshall
7\. Moltzen

1\. Tim Moltzen – why does sheens keep playing me here , we both know i can't play this position
2\. Taniela Tuiaki -- sorry guys but ill never be the same after this
3\. Blake Ayshford-- still pinching myself
4\. Chris Lawrence
5\. Lote Tuqiri-- only here for the money, sorry guys..
6\. Benji Marshall,--- i think i feel an injury coming on .
7\. Robert Lui---- yawn, i feel sooo tied ,dont think i can finish this game ..

wow

Haha it baffles me why you even support the Tigers judging from your posts mate. I guess the forum just wouldn't be the same without negative, cynical fans such as yourself though.

ok then, let's throw them all out and recruit a fresh team
Please start by posting who we should buy and explain how they are better than what we've already got.
geez, we've got one of the best squads on paper and people STILL complain!

1\. Tim Moltzen – gun player! will make origin one day!
2\. Taniela Tuiaki -- back in round 8! The human wrecking ball!
3\. Blake Ayshford-- going from strength to strength; with a full off-season under his belt he'll be even better
4\. Chris Lawrence -- finally make origin
5\. Lote Tuqiri-- such media attention! a crowd puller and has been tearing it up at Leicester
6\. Benji Marshall,--- in the best form of his career! NZ captain! So marketable!
7\. Robert Lui---- a gun player of the future. His time may yet come, but he's still going sweet!

wow

surely your taking the piss..
your prepared to put down a backline with the likes of Tuqiri, Tuiaki, Marshall, Moltzen and Ayshford and yet you are constantly talking up players who cant even make it out of State Cup.

Lote and Taniela will be our twin towers on the flanks. You cant go over them, you cant go through them, you need to go between them, thats where they will meet 11 other tackling machines. The tigers to kick arse this year.
