Great under the high ball , lacks a touch of speed though

GNR,you are right on the point of not attracting marquee players I suppose,but surely there is experienced talent out there that wouldn't cost the earth and would play with us for the opportunity to play in a re surged NRL club..
We have the positive of the club improving now with the new board and coach who really wants the club to go forward especially by cleaning up the outdated S&C facilities,and some deadwood that was lying around. :slight_smile: :slight_smile: :sign:

I don't know why people think we have some over abundance of wingers. One of our first choice wingers is pushing mid-30s and we were playing back rowers out there at the end of the year. Yes we've signed one player with NRL wing experience but I wouldn't say we have stacks of them. Of course it depends on what money we're talking but if we signed him it is hardly the worst signing we've made.
Also Maranta when he was playing QLD cup at Norths he played Centre, Fullback and Five eight it's only really in FG he played wing was my understanding.
If he did come he would provide great utility value and mayby he isn't that quick on the wing because he isn't a winger and as Yoss said we aren't exactly flooded with FG outside backs

2015 is almost gonna be like 2014 IMO. We need to spend time and effort in developing our young players, then try to buy top centres/backrowers for 2016 when we will have a lot more cash.

The one huge positive Maranta has got is that he is pretty good at leaping for a high ball…we are so far behind the good teams in this increasingly important are of the game it isn't funny. apart from Nofo and maybe Pat, the rest of our backline are in the stone-age when it comes to contesting an attacking bomb. Maranta would get a game in our current team IMO.
