Marshall's game today (and of late..)

For mine, I don't know if he is trying TOO hard or if he plays the same way that he plays touch football but gee he can do some pretty dumb things when he is off his game..

It isn't up to standard. He tries too hard but also doesn't get involved enough.

Still compared to Farah he was sensational.

Too many floating passes WAY across field, too much jinking and dancing across field.

If he takes on the line more, you know, like a 5/8th, I think it would catch a hell of alot of teams off guard.

dipite his last 3 weeks hes still the only one creating anything alot has to do with him having no real halfback over that time

Despite playing poorly he is still our most creative player. Maybe because he is getting no support it is affecting his game.

Not sure but Farah is much more of an issue atm.

too much side-to-side stuff. but he has to try and conjure up something because we don't have a halfback…

He needs to run at the line more and take the tackle. He is cramping his outside runners for room and when its obvious that there's no chance he hands the ball off to a flat footed "runner" who gets smashed to the ground and turtled - thus no quick play the ball.

But this isnt even the worst thing he is doing out there…..his kicking is aweful.

struggling without moltzen or lui next to him. Farah gave a crack but was really nothing special at all.

Dont get me wrong mate I am a massive fan and supporter of his, but he has been off lately and quite badly so.

None of our stars play to their potential when the team is covering positions that aren't their own. Half the team end up shuffled and then set plays are out the window. How is anyone suppose to play their best when the regular 1,6,7 and 9 isn't there.

First player picked for mine too but today he was average at best…..nothing to do with the 1 7 or 9....

I want to know why he didn't take a quick tap when the Roosters were retreating back after a penalty it was like after he hit the post from in front his mojo went ...It was like Oh I don't think I'll find touch ...missed the opportunity for a quick tap Oh stuff it....Give it to Galloway....

He was ALRIGHT today, but against penrith and canterbury was pretty ordinary. For once, I'm actually looking foward to Lui coming back so everybody can go back to their normal positions. Hopefully with a genuine halfback he has played with before, Marshall can connect better with his backs.

I loved his stepping. Easily our best playmaker today.

except he stepped at all the wrong times and did it waay too much with no avail.

I must have counted about 3 times where the ball was passed from right side of the field to the left and you could see the opportunity with Lote to finish off, but Benji gets the ball and steps BACK RIGHT dancing his way back only to float it back to a forward standing still - :deadhorse:

Seriously frustrated me as our attacking strength is on the left fringe

OMG as much as a fan I am of Benji, I think he is trying and playing too much off the cuff

I'm aware of that but he's still the first player picked stryker.

The maturity and patience he has shown of late went out the window yesterday, as it has probably over the past several weeks to be honest. There's been no case or sign or Marshall wanting to build any sort of pressure. Back is the off the cuff, trying to score off every pass and run he makes. I attribute that to the absence of a shifting pivot that allows him to play wider of the ruck and work more closely with the edges.

He needs to play more direct rather than side to side like the last few weeks. Yesterday was a good opportunity for him to do because the forwards did do their job and went forward well. The biggest problem with Benji going sideways too often is that it gives his outside backs no room to move because they instinctively start to crabwalk so as not to get in his way.
