Mbye - Halves

With all the struggles and musical chairs in the halves, how hasn’t he been given a run. He can’t play anywhere else, and it’s where he’s played his best football. He surely couldn’t do any worse than the three stooges who alternate in those positions.

In attack at some stages last night he played full back, and when douehi scored that try he was at left centre.

The Dogs may disagree with you...

If you put a gun to their head, they’d probably take him over Reynolds.

Didn't we try Mbye in the halves last year, or was that cleary?

Mbye hasn’t played in the halves while he’s been here.

Been saying that for a while. I think that’s the only place we’ll get decent value from him and it’s his best position.

We’re stuck with him for the next 2 years, no reason why he wouldn’t go well there.

5/8 is the only position he’s had success playing in. If we can’t move him on then we have to give him a crack there. There isn’t another position on the field he’s capable of playing to a high enough standard.

No. He just needs to be cut. He's toxic.

Matterson needed to be cut. He ran the risk of causing disharmony amongst the playing group. He was toxic. Mbye might not be worth his contract, and the club would probably be better off if he moved on, but I don’t think toxic is the word you are looking for to describe him.

His best spot, by far, is 14.

He can come on and cover 1, 3,4, 6, and 9.

He is average in all those spots, but as a 14 that is fine.

Our big problems are he is captain 'and' on absolute elite level money.

If he was a bench player on 300, the perception of him would be really different.

Reality is he is nowhere near worth his pay. He hit the jackpot when he signed his deal. That is not his fault, but it is crippling us and will do for a couple more seasons.

If Mbye can play halfback I'd try him there with Madden there at 5/8 since Doueihi is needed at fullback at this stage.

The season is over time to get Doueihi to 5/8 forget fullback the halves are the most important thing moving into 2021 get Mbye into 7 as well see how it goes !

I think AD centre, Mbye fullback in attack and vice versa in defence is a neat idea

at the end Mbye isn't a world beater but I'd rather pay him 800K to pay here than to pay 400K not to.

With the players in the current squad, Doueihi should stay at fullback.

Apart from a shocker against Newcastle, he's been safe under the high ball which Mbye is not.

Mbye/Brooks seems the most logical combination in the halves from today until the end of the season as an experiment only.

Talau into the centres and recall Kepaoa onto the wing.

This is a genuine question. Can we not ask him to consider a pay cut for the benefit of the team? Or is the not allowed within the rules of the cap?
