Membership query

I received an email on the 7th October , telling me my membership would be automatically renewed the week starting of the 20th October . The email stated I had until the 22 October to opt out of the automatic renewal .
So I must have ticked a box or something when I signed up last year ?
I'm glad I read the email and it's all sorted !
Bring on 2015 !

Interesting. I never received a warning message. Just a payment notification . Anyway. I'll see what the club does to fix it tomorrow before I get too worked up.

Yep my membership has been renewed without my permission.
I never recieved or replied to an email regarding my membership.

Will call the club tomorrow and sort it out.

Yea mine was as well. Called club and was told I should of received and email telling me to opt out. Did not receive this email.

I was going to renew anyway, I just wanted to change my package but I was really annoyed that the onus was on me to opt out of renewing? Especially when I didn't get the email, seemed very dodgy any underhanded.

I cancelled, club will refund. I suggest you call the membership department and sort it out. Glad to know it wasn't just me who didn't get this magic email.

They can't just automatically presume someone is going to renew there Membership, that is disgusting. Sometimes I go weeks or Months without checking my emails

My first thought upon opening the 'Automatic Membership Renewal was "cheeky bastards" .

im prettttty sure you have to opt IN to the auto-renewals. It's an extremely common practice at other clubs and the AFL.

It's proper dodgy.

The women tried to tell me I did receive the email but I listed out every email from WT and none were about renewal.

One way of boosting numbers is just scamming existing members I guess.

Is that even legal? Unless you say no, we assume yes does not sound like a legit business model. I'm not a lawyer though so maybe it is.

I asked that too, because I didn't opt in. Ever. She just apologized.

Desperate times call for desperate measures I suppose ?

The same hobbo, if anything it could turn our members away by the Club doing something like this, people's financial situation changes from year to year, I just feel it's abit rude.

When your car insurance or home and contents insurance is up for renewal you receive an email or a letter giving you the option of opting out or letting the policy renew automatically ! ( I usually call them , threaten to leave and demand a discount lol).
Pretty piss for from WT once again IMO .. Amateur hour once again .

Lool we announce a new Jersey sponsor and there is a countdown to it on fb and twitter. Something so important is sent through just one email.

It's as if they wanted to increase memberships by sneaking through peoples sight.

Auto renewal is OK. Its a great business tactic but to not advertise and not remind people about Th e deadline is quite low and pathetic.

Its the rolling renewals….I remember them discussing it lasty year but I dont recall ticking any box or even reading about it in the member details last year.

People mustve left a box checked...maybe its like some anti virus stuuff that comes with a toolbar and u have to uncheck the box to not get it...i cant recall

I got an email telling me that my membership would automatically renew unless I opted out but I did ask for the rolling renewal last year. I think it's part of the deal if you go for monthly payments.
