Moderator Review Process

Dont worry willow you guys do a good job.Just on the "neutrality" by being a moderator whilst frustrating for you guys I think it does mean you need to be a little "lighter" at times with your views on certain subjects that you may not agree with from certain posters. But yet again your efforts must be applauded because life is full of people who want everything for nothing but you guys are that something that put the EFFORT in to make this site work.So next time someone wants to whinge about moderators perhaps they should apply to be a moderator.

Maybe because I am a little older than most of the members, I found some other forums to be most distasteful. As a result, I generally kept away from them. This forum, and the "old" one, is a cut above most, if not the rest, so please maintain the standard. Naturally, you will irritate some with your rulings, but this is a consequence of holding people to a standard.
Keep up the good work!

This is a very good Forum. Kul & Co. should be applauded for the time, effort and quality of the product they have put together.

I will now speak about myself and issues I have had with moderators. A few things that always make me laugh. The issue of not remaining on the topic or hijacking a thread is interesting. Some great debate/chats and conversations occur in the timeline of a thread and they naturally do progress off topic. I think this us not a bad thing because it is just the natural progression of the conversation. I have seen good threads closed down because of this.

Also, Threads get closed down when they hit a nerve with the fiercely passionate 'Balmain' Mods i.e. Willow. In my opinion Willow tends to limit Freedom of Speech if it does not suit his personal beliefs or agenda. He then will close a thread immediately. One example of a thread that should have been closed was the one about FULTON/MARSHALL/MRS FULTON. That was a shocker that it was allowed to go on. I publish a thread on my own opinion on the job HUMPHREYS is doing especially with the jerseys and it gets closed down with the reason being it was an attack on the club

My Personal Opinion on the CEO was rubbed out and it lost out to a False Viscious Vexatious Rumour that was extremely damaging to the club. I could not understand that !!! :wtf

Haha, you are so one eyed Bug - I LOVE IT!

I haven't seen too much on here that I would have a problem with. Bug has his opinions and likes to push them, so I don't think you can be critical of Willow for his loyalty or allegiance. The thread Bug has referred to was borderline and I am sure that the Mods watched this closely.

I think you will often find that, once a thread gets beyond the normal boundaries, many of the posts will ask for it to be terminated.

Am sick of Moltzen, Ryan and Fitzhenry bashing though. They are or have provided good service to the club and need a little more latitude in my opinion.

Overall I think this forum is run very well, and thanks to Bug it is very entertaining!

Extremely well put and there certainly is a fiercely passionate "balmain" group of mods are there any "wests" ones who knows.Willow may be your example but to not name names there are one or two others that ARE worse when it comes to seeing things that if it happens outside lilyfield it doesnt happen.Whether that be ashfield, leumeah or the moon. But let me add this is a very good forum which shows the great work 98% of the time the mods do.

You see Bug this is the thing, my personal beliefs have nothing to do with this forum. As for an agenda, well I simply do not have one, that's why I was selected to be a moderator in the first place.

Secondly, to assume I am a fiercely passionate 'Balmain' mod, well that's simply a false assumption on your behalf. I like Balmain AND Wests. I have nothing against either club and I'm glad they both have a presence in the NSW Cup. My passion and priority lies with the Wests Tigers. I simply refuse to get into the Balmain V Wests threads which cause division on this forum and I fail to see how they generate anything positive when members wind back the clock and start arguing among one another. It's anti-productive and achieves nothing.

I close threads when members fail to remain on topic, or the topic itself is a violation of forum rules. Again, please read the forum rules, they're quite specific in regards to the hijacking of threads, spamming and trolling, and they are the three most common violations that occur on here. I commonly ask for people to stay on topic and when that request is disregarded, well I'm left with little option at times which is frustrating. I would like to think that people would learn from this, but unfortunately not all do and that is why threads are occasionally closed.

You seem to think that because I harbour no ill will towards Balmain when they make decisions you do not agree with that makes me pro Balmain and anti-Wests??? Nothing could be further from the truth Bug, I always hope that Wests chalk up a win each weekend, and likewise for Balmain. I just don't spit the dummy over decisions that I have no influence over or do not concern me.

Willow,
Thanks for your reply,

But dont you agree that the natural progression of a conversation or thread can see it naturally deviate from its original purpose? Dont you think that assists in giving it longevity and more interest?

Also * *
What do you classify as 'Hijacking', 'Trolling', or 'Spaming' threads ??

I am not too clear on these meanings.

This to me comes down simply to opinion. Its all well and good to state it is a rule but a rule like this cannot be policed in a consistent fashion.

Just some brief definitions for you Bug…

Thread Hijacking: This is what happens when the original content contained in the thread becomes moot and whatever the "Thread Jacker" has manipulated the content to be becomes the new content thereby "hijacking" the original intent of post. People now respond to the "thread jacker's" input and the that becomes the focus of the thread. Like most forums I have come across over the years, it happens here too.

Trolling: This is trying to get a rise out of someone such as forcing them to respond to you, either through sarcastic remarks, posting incorrect information, asking blatantly stupid questions, or blatantly making ridiculous statements, however trolling statements are never true. Trolled statements are meant to be funny to some people, but most see them for what they really are which is a person making inflammatory comments on the internet for the purpose of starting controversy and gauging people's reactions. It would be like me praising Rob Lui saying he had the game of his life last week and single handedly won the game for the Tigers...People know it's not true and their initial reaction is to respond telling me I'm a fool and merely 'trolling' for a response.

Spamming: Very simple this one it basically consists of someone posting useless crap on forums over and over. For example, we have a thread about Bryce Gibbs and Andrew Fifita leaving the club, most people would typically post their thoughts on the matter, a post consisting of the 'blah' emoticon and nothing else is considered spam, or 10 or 20 posts from people talking about the issue and then someone else comes in and types 'yawn', or 'whatever'. That's spam because they are not contributing to the thread in any way. This is probably the most frequent cause for posts being deleted on this forum.

But that happens in life thoughTiger05 . I'm not saying your wrong or right but we have to accept the rules of the forum whether we like it or not

So….is this the post with the allegations of anti wests pro balmain stuff that kul made a thread about agendas earlier today, only to see it mysteriously removed?

Yes. What happened? That was a good discussion.
