there doesn't seem to be any good movies coming out unless you're into harry :frowning:

a rented this movie on the weekend called 'right at your door'. dont know if any of you have seen it but it's pretty scary. hope nothing like that actually happens…

Has anybody seen Tropic Thunder?

If so, is it actually funny or just lame?

I thought it was a bit hit and miss mate. It has some good scenes and a couple of really good lines in it, but in other parts it just falls flat. Downey Jr is very good in it. Tom Cruise in a cameo role is surprisingly funny too. It's worth watching on DVD.

Public Enemies out on July 30 should be decent.

Another flick that has received very good reviews and will hopefully be out here soon is called The Hurt Locker.

Thanks mate, I was borderline on whether to get it or not but I'll hire the dvd and check it out

Went to see Bruno….wasn't a fan of Borat...

But After seeing Bruno.....well the guy is a legend.....

Not for the little one's this movie....Be warned....

American's just don't have a sense of humor.....

Am looking forward to (very much)

- Public Enemies
- The Road
- Inglorious Basterds
- Moon (This looks brilliant)

Also (not so much)

- Harry Potter

Daybreakers and A Perfect Getaway are another couple of flicks that look good to me.

that gi joe movie looks ok from the trailer. coming out next month i think

Best films I've seen recently:

500 Days Of Summer - http://www.apple.com/trailers/fox_searchlight/500daysofsummer/ The anti rom-com.
Black Dynamite - http://www.blackdynamitemovie.com/media/video Awesome blaxploitation spoof.
Drag Me To Hell - http://www.apple.com/trailers/universal/dragmetohell/ Sam Raimi returns to horror. It is what it is. Lots of fun and occasionally genuinely scary, something 99% of horror films ain't these days.
Let The Right One In - http://www.apple.com/trailers/magnolia/lettherightonein/ The anti "Twilight" lol. See it now before Hollywood remakes it.
Lionel - http://www.lionelrose.com.au/Trailer.php Great look back at the life and career of sadly a much overlooked Australian sporting legend.
Looking For Eric - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mDiAvn_CC08 Great little crowd pleaser of a film. Trust me you'll walk away from this one with a huge smile on your face. King Eric is still the greatest.
Nollywood Babylon - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rRVUNYV7Mto Fascinating look at the blossoming Nigerian underground film industry.

Worst films I've seen recently:

Bronson - Pretentious rubbish. Try hard mix of Clockwork Orange and Chopper via Blue Velvet.
The Limits Of Control - It's pretentious, incoherent and smug. Overindulgence from Mr. Jarmusch here.

At the top of my list to see:

Antichrist - http://www.antichristthemovie.com/?language=en Not a huge fan of Lars Von Trier. But this looks quite unsettling and a little bizarre.
Big Fan - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x-i42Mrw3no I'm told it is brilliant.
District 9 - http://www.apple.com/trailers/sony_pictures/district9/ The concept alone is fascinating and original, at least in the film medium. Looks very cool also.
The Road - http://movies.yahoo.com/movie/1810037227/trailer Viggo Mortensen. John Hillcoat. Cormac McCarthy. I'm sold on this one.
Shutter Island - http://www.apple.com/trailers/paramount/shutterisland/ Martin Scorsese's adaptation of a pretty good book with a killer cast.
Where The Wild Things Are - http://www.apple.com/trailers/wb/wherethewildthingsare/ Spike Jonze is the only one who could make this film the right way.

Oh and can't recommend this enough:

The Hurt Locker - http://www.apple.com/trailers/summit/thehurtlocker/hd/

Saw this one down at the Melbourne Film Fest. Incredible movie. Must see for anyone.

Seeing it AGAIN at the film fest I mean. Anybody else down Melb way should get themselves out and see some flicks at the festival this year.

It's getting some solid reviews. I was sold on the preview and it has a very good cast and director.

I saw The Hangover and Year One recently.

The Hangover was great i thought.Year One was a bit hit and miss.

You will definitely like "Up" when it comes out then Suze.

karl malden died last week. he did some good work. my favourite film with Karl Malden you ask? A Streetcar named Desire with Marlon Brando and Vivien Leigh, written by Tennesse Williams and directed by Elia Kazan. This was of course, Brando's breakthrough performance and changed the face of acting as it was known. Hence, De Niro, Pacino, Hoffman to name a few, and also you can throw Paul Newman in that lot.

has anyone seen the movie _the labyrinth_?

i watched that last night. i had not seen it for many years. bits of it are funny
