G'Day everyone,

I'm new here so apologies if this is not the right place for this idea, I stumbled across this website looking for news about last nights debacle but thought I'd share something a bit lighter. I was born after the merger and have been a fan of Wests Tigers all my life as it's all I've ever known, I was thinking a few weeks ago about how other teams have iconic jerseys like the Roosters or Souths and how much it annoys me we change ours every bloody year. If I buy a jersey within a year or two its outdated, and the fact we wear a predominantly Balmain or Western Suburbs jersey for Leichhardt and Campbelltown home games respectively is emblematic of the sort of habits we have that foster division and allow situations like last night to happen. Given we've changed our logo and a lot of personnel in the last few years I figured a more permanent jersey would be the next logical step to build a stronger identity as we enter a (hopefully) more successful era. I drew the below image a couple of weeks ago and thought I'd share it on here just to see what people thought.

Wests Tigers Jersey Idea.jpg

The idea was to try and combine aspects of the old Balmain and Western Suburbs jerseys as a nod to our past while also coming up with something that doesn't overtly represent one side or the other and is uniquely Wests Tigers. I pretty much just took the white Western Suburbs 'V' and sandwiched it between the two old Balmain chevrons. I'm not a massive fan of the tapered lines we use at the moment and wanted to use straighter lines to make a stronger and more traditional rugby league jersey. Apart from it being a little Roosters-esque I think its a pretty damn cool jersey, and I'd be proud to watch my team run out in it EVERY home game.

I would have loved to have done it on my computer but for a young fella I'm not particularly good with technology and didn't know how to photoshop it, so if you'd like to please feel free, I'd love to see how it looks. If anyone has any suggestions as well I'd love to hear them or even another completely different design. Hopefully this can be a bit of fun with us having the bye, or who knows we might see Jarome Luai running around in one next year!

GO THE TIGES!

Cheers

Get rid of the orange an it will b fine - no seriously if anything comes out of this nonsense with Leo,i hope it gets the club to forge ahead as 1 identity, respect the past by all means , but its time 2 move onwards n up

Welcome Billy

Roosters will talk up their history, only foundation club to play since 1908 blah, blah, on the subject of their jerseys and history they didn't adopt the dark blue with red and white V until 1954, from 1908 to 1953 they donned a red, white and blue hoops design except for 1944 - 1946 when they had a red and white V on a sky blue jerseys.

Their 'iconic' rooster mascot they didn't adopt until 1967, the last club to officially use a mascot/emblem, and initiated by Politis after their disastrous 0 win 1966 season.

And of course they were Eastern Suburbs until 30 odd years ago.

Also their home Jersey may be consistent however they have had more than 10 different away jerseys since 1994, actually with commemorative jersey's for different rounds (heritage, anzac, indigenous rounds etc) they have had in excess of 30 different Jersey designs in the past 20 years.

Cheers mate, and thanks for the little history lesson too. Certainly don’t want to be like the Roosters I just like the idea of a set home jersey to build an identity, and I suppose rotating the others keeps the dollars ticking over. By the way didn’t realise Uncle Nick was so damn old!

Yeah he's been around that long, I just despise how some Rorters think they are everything historical about Rugby League.

Easts were cellar dwellers in the mid 60s (lost 26 in a row from late 65 to early 67), culminating in a winless 66 season 15 points behind 2nd last, it was around that time Politis got involved, he was behind appointing Jack Gibson to his first stint as coach and Gibson got them to the semi finals in 67.

Souths realistically are the the only club using a design similar to their early years, Dragons were one of the first to use a jersey with a V design sometime in the late 20s early 30s.

Many of the emblem/logo names were being used in the years prior but it was Wests and St George that first seriously started using the names of Magpies and Dragons in the late 20s with many other clubs following suit over the following decade (the Roosters were 30 odd years behind the rest in this regard, until then they were just the tricolours), even Balmain's black and gold colours weren't in reference to a tiger but to a type of Wattle tree that grew predominantly in the area.

Welcome.
Looks good I’m in.

Th alumni jersey presented to Paul Whatuira. Could be a stand alone jersey used solely for the alumni, or could be a sneak peak at next seasons kit...

I think this is just the Alumni jersey. No point giving them a new design that would have been seen around well before the new season. If it was to be tied to the regular jersey, they would be getting the current one that links to when they join the Alumni.

And moving away from Steeden I hope ...cheap and nasty

I think we all would like that, but something has me thinking we may have another year with them. But will be very happy to be proven wrong, so long as we actually get a good manufacturer (Dynasty I am looking in your direction if anyone who works for them is reading this).

I reckon we should come out at the start of 2025 with a completely different, fresher and more modern design denoting a new era (Richo, Benji and Luai) for Wests Tigers.
There was a jersey thread about 3 years ago that showed modern designs from Adidas and others that I personally really liked.

Look at Fulton and Tuiaki post jerseys and the sleeves have a orange then white ring around it, the same as the one in your picture so my guess is they’re alumni jerseys only
