Newcastle have sensationally dumped star winger Nathan Ross from first grade this weekend after Moley's exclusive story yesterday that he is not happy with his current contract.

In a savage reaction from the club, officials are poised to drop Ross - one of their best players all season - from the team to meet Penrith on Sunday.

The move comes as a direct result of Wide World of Sports revealing yesterday that Ross believes he is worth more than his current deal, believed to be around $150,000 a season.

Ross is signed until the end of next season, but sources told WWOS that Ross is considering quitting the club once his contract expires - and that sent the club into a rage.

Ross was called in by club officials this morning and told he would be playing in the NSW Cup this weekend.

The news is certain to create a massive backlash from Knights fans.

I don't really rate Nathan Brown as a coach, but geez for what Nathan Ross did Brown dealt with it harshly in my opinion….Surely a quiet word and a fine(?) would suffice , rather than humiliate, demoralise him publicly by dropping him to the reggies when the demotion was not form based.

I'd say he's still worth between 250-350k, he's a good player.

Hes probably one of two decent players in the worst team.

Yep, Nathan Brown spoke about it..said there was a massive increase in the cap and a lot of players in the same situation, they would love to get some of that money. Ross didn't handle it well apparently.

No it shouldnt have but dropping one of the only guys putting in the effort for you is a terrible response. Must be more to it.
