Talented forward Kyle Lovett admits he is ‘living a dream’ as he prepares for the 2013 season.

Lovett spoke to Wests Tigers Media Manager Wayne Cousins about winning the NYC premiership to training with the NRL squad as part of our new 'One on One' series.

Wayne You had a nice ‘welcome’ to NRL training in Wyong recently with a non-stop three hour session. How did you find it?

Kyle It was very tough. It felt like it was my first day of football again. Everything is new again. The training is quicker and the people you wrestle are physically stronger. It is a very good feeling.

Wayne You must be pinching yourself. A premiership medal to mixing it with the big boys?

Kyle It was a terrific feeling winning the grand final. We worked so hard for it under Todd Payten. We were a very close team. I can’t believe I’m training with the NRL boys at the moment. I’ve always followed the Tigers and was 12-years-old when Wests Tigers won the 2005 grand final. To now be training alongside the likes of Benji Marshall and Robbie Farah is just incredible. It definitely is a dream come true. All of the boys have made me feel welcome.

Wayne You have a strong friendship with Aaron Woods. What sort of advice has he been passing on?

Kyle Woodsy and I have been mates for a long time. He just tells me to keep working hard as anything can happen and that your first grade debut could be two weeks away or two years away. He was only 20 when he made his NRL debut.

Wayne You are training with the NRL squad until Christmas. What are your main goals for 2013?

Kyle I’m looking forward to playing in the 20s again. It would be nice to get a few games in the new Wests Tigers NSW Cup side and see what happens from there. It is all about working hard and being ready for when your opportunity comes.

Wayne With success comes pressure. Wests Tigers are the benchmark now in the U20s?

Kyle We just have to make sure we are professional in everything we do. Having Todd as coach again means he will leave no stone unturned. He will make sure we don’t get complacent. That’s the most important thing. It is all about winning the competition again. We can’t rest on last season. That’s over.

Admittedly i had only seen about half a dozen games of the 20's this year, but i thought Lovett was the most consistent of the forward's in the games that i had watched. Barring a bad run of injuries, i don't think we will see him making his debut in FG next year but i have no doubts we will be seeing plenty of this kid in years to come.

Good player with a good workrate and work ethic. I don't expect him to play FG in 2013, but I think he'll be pushing pretty hard for 2014.

Me too, reminds me a lot of Gareth Ellis - Kyle is one to watch.

Mini Gallen in my opinion

Can I say something ,isn't it great to see how Woodsy is working with the younger players and giving advice

I wonder if when the Tigers signed Woods how much affect he would have on the club in such a short period of time

He could end up being the clubs best signing ever

As mentioned earlier he's Leichhardt born and bred, but your point is still valid. He and Lovett grew up near each other and have been mates for a while, which is definitely going to help Kyle in his development. They are very similar styles of people, driven, disciplined and tough, and I hope that means he can have the same success as Aaron when he gets his chance.

Lol we didn't sign Woods though. He has been with the Tigers since he was 5 years old or something.

We did sign him…. he had to be signed at some stage even though hes a local junior

Well we had to make a choice in late 2010 whether we kept BMM ,Groat ,Woods or Fafita

I bet Cronulla would of crawled over broken glass to sign Woods

Fifita cracked first grade before woods but woods has come out the better player no doubt.
