Origin Time

Ennis only got picked because (a) Robbie had a bad game 2; (b) the perception that he'd combine better with Kimmorley; and © the selectors have rocks for brains.

How Farah hasn't been in every NSW Origin side since 2006 in beyond me. He outperforms Smith most of the time they go head-to-head and I'm sure if Bellamy was picking Robbie would be there. Frankly, if the Tigers had been better performing Robbie would have played more rep footy.

However, I've given up on rationality and am fully expecting the selectors to send an SOS to Leeds to release Buderus for Origin.

That last is tongue in cheek. Robbie will play all three games.

I don't want anyone picked for origin. Sure it would be good to see some tigers run out in the sky blue but I would prefer if we had our full strength team.

If the selectors want attacking centres lawrence would not be picked, however, if they want defensive centres then lawrence and cooper are the way to go.

Galloway's form this season has not earned him an origin spot, but i do hope his form improves and he gets a shot.

Robbie Farah. In my opinion, the best option for hooker come origin time. Ennis would bring more aggression to the team but is nowhere near the level of farah when it comes to consistent attacking and defensive footy. Having said that, I think the chances of farah being selected are lower than ennis. We all know farah is a better player in most aspects, however, the selectors would not soon be forgetting origin 2 from last year

Quite frankly, skill level has gone out the window when picking NSW origin sides. It's now all about "Who is made for Origin".
You look at Danny Buderus, when he was first picked he was the best attacking hooker NSW had, he would always make incisive runs and cause trouble the way Farah does now.
It was only towards the end of Buderus' career that he became more one dimensional and therefore got more renown for his toughness, Ennis being picked is just a flow on from the final years of Buderus' Origin career imo.

Yes Ennis played well in Origin 3 but so did the entire NSW team. NSW were smashed off the park in game 2 and as a result, your hooker can't do anything. Its very hard to play tough or make incisive runs when the forwards are being turtled all game. Hookers suffer a similar fate to halves when it comes to the rest of the forwards being dominated.

Ennis fortunately had the exact opposite. Was that because of Ennis?? NO!!! Robbie would have carved up in Origin 3 also.

If anyone watched the Dogs game last night, Ennis proved he is anything but an origin hooker.

When the tigers are down, Robbie busts his gut out and forces the issue. Sometimes it doesn't come off, but he is definitely good for a try or assist.

Last night when the dogs were down, Ennis was good for 4 penalties, passes to no one and dropped balls.

Ennis was pathetic last night.

I agree, selectors have a long memory especially when it comes to playing origin games.
for instance, the time when Hodo, was rag dolled over the sideline by Tallis, Kimmorley threw the last pass which Bowen intercepted to score. would not be suprised if both get picked and rotated thru the game, to see has the bestter on field influence.

Ennis is most definately a MYTH, but he will be picked for NSW. Almost makes me want to go for QLD

My thoughts exactly. I have no faith at all with the NSW selectors. farah should have been off the bench when Buderus was still playing. We'd have a hardened origin hooker and captain for this year.

Farah at this stage has it all over Ennis. Lawrence is a definite chance and Galloway should be picked. He didn't dominate against the Raiders but we'll see an improved performance from him against the Cowboys this week. Lote will probably get a wing spot for Qld if he keeps his form up.

I'm not counting on Tuiaki being ready to play by origin time either.

just on tuiaki, lets just say he comes near origin 1 or 2 time. if tuqiri plays for queensland, we could have mitch brown and tuiaki on the wings, which would be a good combination anyway

Farah is definitely in better form than Ennis, but I think they'll stick with the same combinations that won origin 3\. however if NSW lose origin 1 expect changes accross the vital postions i.e hooker, half back etc.

Galloway is not up to rep footy at the moment unfortunately, unless as you say makes a big improvement against NQ. There's no doubt the bloke is origin material, just needs to get back that devastating form he showed in the early rounds last year.

Lawrence is a 'must' for origin and IMO would suit the format perfectly, unfortunately however our single-minded selectors will look for so-called 'experience' on the wings, just like they did with the halves in game 3

I think Farah among others was put under way to much pressure by the selectors, in that they had to perform for way too long before they got their crack. When you think about it, Farah was on fire for 3 and a half years before he got a gig for the Blues (he was stuck behind a legend but should've got a bench gig). When he finally got his shot, he was seen as one of the games elite and people were expecting him to fire from game 1, which just didn't happen. Queensland have form play a little more in selection so when a player is picked, they aren't super hyped (Thurston got a crack early, as did Inglis, Slater, Boyd, Hannant, Thaiday, Smith), and now a lot of them are seen as Superstars of the game. The longer you hold off the selection, the more pressure it puts on the player to perform when they get there.

1\. Ryan
2\. Tuiaki (he should be back by then)
3\. Ayshford (ditto Tuiaki)
4\. Daniella
5\. Brown
6\. Marshall
7\. Moltzen
8\. Gibbs
9\. Fitzhenry
10\. Cayless
11\. Ellis
12\. Fulton
13\. Heighington

14\. Flanagan
15\. Fifita
16\. Moors
17\. Payten

that's what we'd probably look like if all the guys in contention get picked.

Replace Daniella and Brown with Pritchard and Davis.

Daniella and Brown can tie up Pritchard and Davis's shoe laces before the game, and clean their boots afterwards.

Once again, all class.

With the way Gibbs is going, he'll be in nsw contention won't he?

He won't be, but it is a very good point.

Bryce Gibbs has been arguably the best front rower in the comp this season. He's gone to another level this year. Early on he was solid with some good stuff mixed with bad, then from 2008 he became a consistent performer, getting alot of the garbage out of his game. This year, he has become an outstanding performer in both attack and defense and is slowly, in my book, overtaking Galloway as our number one prop.

If Michael Weyman can go from playing QLD cup in September of 2008, to Origin in June of 2009, I fail to see why Gibbsy couldn't.
