How far off is lodge ? Tapau needs some help standing up to rival forward packs , especially the dogs. Obviously woods work rate and skill are exceptional but I feel other than tapau or pack is lacking grunt. Buchanan/Galloway plodders. Lovett halatau siro while going ok don't scare anybody. Sue has shown glimpses. Last year with gavet and tapau together we looked lethal at times.

If he is not back this week, he will be back in round 9 for sure.

He played well in reserves on Saturday but looked short of a run. Probably needs one more game in NSW Cup before getting the call up.

He has been hugely missed considering how poor his replacements has been.

Sue, Lodge and Ava will improve our middle rotation drastically when Keithy, Woods and Taupau come off.

We do miss lodge, our rotation without him is a bit weaker.

If we have Ava, buchannan and Sue as our middle we lack a bit defensively in the middle. Lodge is really good at closing the space in the middle, especially from Marker. He controls ruck speed well also.
Gives us a bit more balanced rotation.

The biggest loss is Sue from the backrow

Simple , we were so much harder and more secure defensively with him there

Ava needs to step it up as well , I've been disappointed so far was expecting big things from the big man in 2015

Yeah, Ava had a positive year last year but has really lacked any real impact this year.

And Buchanan is just too 1 dimensional and doesn't offer anything. He's bulked up a bit and seemed to have a good offseason, but its equated to nothing.

As Happy said, we miss Sue back in the 2nd row.

I thought Ava was going great guns in rounds 1-4\. But since that Bulldogs extra time game he has gone backwards big time. He needs to get back to his early season form to help our bench rotation.

Also agree with Sue needing to go back to the second row.

I don't see how Ava has gone backwards when Taylor has only been using him for the final 20 minutes of late.

Agree, if Ava had the minutes instead of Buchanan we wouldn't even be having this conversation.
Sue for Lovett and a bench of Halatau, Ava, Lodge and Akauola and we're a much different prospect.

Lamar didn't have the greatest debut defensive wise but I still believe is a star of the future and hopefully gets another opportunity soon.

Ava is good at catching Kick Off's…the new and improved Todd Payton...

Glad he's starting this week ...well on paper that is...

your kidding i hope, did u see him play last week in the NSW CUP, he looked like a kid who had lost his loolie pop, head down no punch in attack and lazy in defence, needs to go back to u20s long before he ever plays NRL OR EVEN NSW CUP AGAIN.

I think you're the one that's kidding. Lamar is a fantastic player and is going to be an outstanding first grader!

Lamar showed a few glimpses in that game. I reckon he misses Martin.. Lamar threw a beautiful pass to put our centre away. Lamar strength is a stand out to me. For his age it's incredible. He just needs to figure how to get more involved which might be a fitness thing? The club have no excuses. He should be fit and ready to tear in for next season.

They werent making any ground on the right edge (where Sue would be) if he was on the edge.

Ava is not a good defender. He is not terrible, but not good. Buchannen is weak, Sue is fine, but not good enough to lift the other 2\. Our middle struggles with that combination.

And that is why we need to keep 2 from either Woods ,Keefy ,Lodge and Taupau on the field at any given time
