Paseka the Giant...

The most sensible thing that they are doing is not rushing him.Give him time to get where he needs to be throwing him to the wolves is a very poor option

Front rowers have to have Raw aggression and power you can't judge from the sidelines. That said his size is impressive given he is so lean. This bloke could be anything but a puppy can be damaged if he scraps with the big dogs before he is full grown.

Playing in NSW cup trial this weekend which is a good move I suppose. Let him have a half season up against big bodies and see how he goes

He reminds me a little of the big kid we let go to Penrith, big and athletic. I think he could be great off the bench, but I do agree he needs some time in reserve grade playing against men to fast track his development and develop his motor

I'm glad he is starting in SC. he needs time there. JJF is there as well but I think that's more about getting his minutes up. Hope to see more of JJF in 1st this season.

Who was that player, was it Daine Laurie? If it was let's hope Paseka does a bit more with his talent than what DL did.

Ah yeah cool. Heard this sort of tripe before.
We will over pay again for another hyped up youngster.
We have to be the dumbest club ever to fall for junior hype.
All these world beaters we keep producing you would think we would have won multiple premierships by now.

Keebra park bro. What a joke.

We've won the same amount of premierships that the Broncos have won in the last 15 years .

They're not that easy to win .

speaking of hyped up youngsters , keebra park & the broncos … about 12 months ago this happened ...

NRL 2016: Brisbane Broncos poach young gun Marion Seve from Wests Tigers

THE Broncos have snared one of the most promising young centres in the game with cancer-beating sensation Marion Seve leaving the Tigers for Brisbane.
>
Seve will join the Broncos this season, further bolstering the club’s backline stocks following the recruitment of James Roberts.
>
While he is yet to make his NRL debut, Seve is regarded as one of the most devastating young three-quarters in rugby league.
>
A product of league nursery Keebra Park on the Gold Coast, Seve fought testicular cancer which spread to his liver in his teenage years but emerged from the battle to win the Peter Sterling Medal as the country’s best schoolboys player in 2013.

hasn't been sighted in first grade , maybe he will but others have had a taste before him when there's been outs from the broncos backline .

the moral of this story ...

it aint that easy , even the best clubs dont get it right all the time ...

The Seve one is an interesting one. It was weird that he was hyped when the Broncs snared him because he had never really set the world on fire here. In all my times of watching NYC and ISP the Tigers have had numerous centres who performed better than Seve and none of whom went on to play firsts.

Marion still seemed to be living off his junior days as the best footballer in the country, albeit in a weak age group.

With us, he lacked genuine pace and was small. I always hoped he would prove me wrong and I deluded myself into thinking all the good judges couldn't be wrong. But, upon reflection, it has not been surprise that he hasn't made it.

Laurie could have been anything with half a brain.

Paeka has come through the system Laurie came from the country league and started straight away.
He was too raw Paseka will be much better prepared for success. Working out whether a front rower is ready is really a mental trait only the coach can determine. I have a feeling we will blood him in NSW cup and lock him in the weights room on a strength programme. He has the size but power and muscle maturity are different.

I was actually thinking of Akaloa…not sure I got the spelling right, but always thought he could have been anything

Laurie looked like he was going to be a huge impact player at the start. Didn't have much aerobic capacity but was devastating in bursts. Remember that game against Parra when he took Fui Fui on in attack and defence and rattled him a few times when Fui was the most damaging forward in the NRL. Shame he never kicked on, he was great to watch.

Just back from Intrust trial. Paseka is enormous and willing but I don't think it close to NRL standard yet. He was actually pretty well handled by Jets (although it always took two of three to do it and he got away a few offloads). The stand-out forward was Junior Tatola. he looked ready.

How was JJ Felise, Heleta, Marsters???

I wrote about it in the ISP trial discussion. Felise was strong but dropped a lot of ball. Masters played the second half and was very fast, and skilful. Looked great. I don't remember Heleta - he came on to replace Papenhysen in the second half.

That was my impression as well.

The Australian schoolboys carnival about 3-4 years back, by all reports Seve totally carved up and so did Sione Mata'utia (I think it was him, not one of his brothers).

Big wraps on both kids, then around a year later Sione plays FG for the Knights and somehow jags a Kangaroos spot in a weakened side. For two players being talked in the same circles, I was excited to see Seve go around.

Then I watched Seve a few times and was fairly unimpressed. Just looked a size too small for firsts, and they put him in ISP and it was even worse. You could tell he had some quality about him, but it was snuffed out by his lack of physical presence.

He had that bad shoulder I think too, for a year or two, but I never saw anything of him being particularly quick or strong and you need one or both to take the step up - all the quality in the world means nothing if you get caught and smashed every time you touch the ball.

Who knows, he might make it, but I've been more impressed by other junior centres who didn't go onto the big time.
