Pearce to Brooks

older generations always think negatively of younger generations.

the "kids these days" mentality existed well before Gen Y.

I think it was a nice compliment from Pearce, and should be taken as just that

Firstly good on them supporting each other as NRL players.

As for Gen Y may have their issues but at least we aren't the baby boomers now their is a generation of horrors

Brooks has had compliments from a lot of ex players and the like.
Last night on fox Matty Johns was saying if Brooks continues the way he is going NSW should be looking at him this time next year, like QLD did with Langer (note. He had Lewis next to him)… Someone else on the panel said that's a good way to destroy a players rep career like what happened with Mullen's.
Personally I think way the DCE has been brought into rep footy is the ideal way.
Also looking very likely Pearce will be dropped for his off field behaviour.

I think the big difference between the Langer situation and this is simple

Qld had two options after Mark Murray injured his eye

NSW have a fair few options

Laurie Spina or Alfie Langer

The next best options after that would of been a 15 year old Tiger Watto or Kevin Langer (Alfie's older brother ) and unfortunately we would of had to pull him out of jail to play game 3 of that series ( . Kevie not Watto that is )

At least the jail was in Qld though

many from the far north still think Spina was robbed despite the player Alfie went on to be

Well you'd have a fair few agree with you Goose

The only time we have EVER played a trial for SOO was that season It was a Qld based side v a NSW based Qlder side

Laurie outplayed Alf in that game

Alf kicked butt in a Qld Residents tour to NZ and that's helped him make the side

On a serious note , there was another bloke Jamie Sandy who was a Paul Shaw from Manly look a like (showing my age now ) , but real quick He was probably No 3

I dont know the full story, but over the years Ive heard many from Nth QLD claim it was Brisbane bias and all that sort of stuff.
From what I understand, the Spina family is RL royalty up North, with Laurie's dad, uncles and cousins all being very good also, even heard that Laurie Spina coming back to captain the Cowboys when they came into the NRL automatically secured a fan base.
As I said, not sure of teh details.

talking about Queensland Residents halfbacks…. there a good shot of Trent Hodkinson wearing QLD jersey in todays paper. this should have a lot of people confused.
i was until i read further into it.

Am i the only one who thinks Brooks looks like a bit of a deer in the headlights when he's put in the spotlight. I don't think he's suited to the media side of things. I'm sure he'll get use to it though.

Of course he does. He's only a kid. He was on Matty Johns a couple of weeks back and did really well. They were careful to look after him on there though.

I saw him on some Fox preseason thing with Woodsy, and he looked pretty good. He's certainly no simpleton.

Andrew Johns initially wasn't suited to media too, and one could argue he still isn't.

I like the fact he's a bit rough in interviews atm - he's a lot better to talk to then certain other dropkicks who get a kick out of being total dicks to anyone with a microphone COUGH DARIUS COUGH.

Daly Cherry Evans still looks like he is trying to spell words out in his head when he gets interviewed.

Really! I love DCE interviews, I really like him.

Is it that he is too polished that makes you guys not like him?

I really liked the guy until he put a knee to Fulton's head on purpose

Every player in the NRL has hit Liam Fulton in the head, you can hardly hold that against him. I think Liam warms up by headbutting his locker.
