Tim Sheens has been targeted as the man to coach the Perth franchise should they gain entry into an expanded NRL competition. Sunday Sin Bin can reveal the bid led by multimillionaire Tony Sage and Balmain great Ben Elias wants the Kangaroos and Wests Tigers coach at the helm for their inaugural season. The potential franchise initially earmarked Ricky Stuart but attention has turned to Sheens after the NSW coach signed with Parramatta. ''Tim Sheens would be terrific for a place like Perth,'' said Elias. ''My first choice was Ricky because he was available, but Tim Sheens would be ideal. I would definitely go for a bloke like him. I've discussed it with Tony Sage and he agrees he would be an ideal candidate.'' Sage, the Perth Glory owner, has vowed to pump $100 million over 10 years into the league venture. They are jockeying with a rival WARL bid, known as the West Coast Pirates.

He is great at building a club… Rebuilt us back up from those dark days. So I can see why he would be the perfect choice

I doubt any expansion is happening for some years yet

This is like expecting an I-Pad for xmas…..and getting a book.

Sheens would be the perfect candidate for a role like this. As frustrating as I am finding him this year at the Tigers and think its time to leave, he would do brilliant job building a new franchise.

When are Perth joining the NRL? 2015 maybe?
That means at least 3 more seasons with him as coach yay

No argument from me Watto. The Tigers are looking stale and need a shakeup and a change of environment for Sheens would probably do him good.

He had Benji Robbie, Liam Bryce Chris Lawrence plonked into his lap….he was blessed.
What junior development programs will he have to work with over there?
He would be exposed truly for what he is.

2 problems.
First. any new Perth team wont be in untill 2015 at the earliest.
Second. The team will be the WARL team, not some half arsed consortium of those two wankers.

As much as you can say it's luck, it's about identifying the right talent and bringing them through as well. The biggest child prodigy may never make it to the NRL. Just look the the Raiders. They've always been strong in the Toyota Cup and have put too much emphasis in keeping their junior talent. This has never brought them any success and they've paid the price. By keeping their juniors they've failed to attract any marquee signings from outside the club.

I do like that majority of our team played their junior footy within our system, whether it be like Farah and Woods in the Balmain Junior Clubs, or bringing across guys like Benji and BMM and putting them through Keebra.

Lets hope they want him early to do the spade work to get the club up and running, any chance he could start 9am on Monday????Theirs a flight tonight around 1930

If he took the deal up, I wonder which players would leave with him?

I'd be happpy to see any of them go if there were any that decided this.
They clearly arent hungry, are happy in their comfort zones, dont like to be questioned or challenged…just wanna plod along, run out do their 80 mins get paid.....Sheens can take all the losers as far as im concerned

This place needs a massive broom thru it
