Pet Hates in the Sporting world

When players say "Its not about the money".

Players who suck up to their coaches ie Ennis backing Dymock as head coach then backing Hasler, not to mention backing Ricky Stuart.

Whinging coaches at every after match press conference.

Channel 9 always showing the Dragons and the Broncos (Especially on a Friday night).

The AFL trying to take over our heartland and destroy our grassroots such as making deals with councils to turn fields into AFL only fields.

And league experts saying SBW will be welcomed back, I dont want him anywhere near our game.

^This! Geez, if they have to do it, they should at least take some acting lessons and DO IT RIGHT!

They're pathetic!

I also hate "extreme milking" ala Greg Bird! What a tool! Can't believe the refs fall for it! :brick:

A good majority of Soccer players are genuine when they go down. In the A-League anyway i reckon. They give their code such a bad name at how soft they are

The media taking it upon themselves to speak for the public and telling them what to think as opposed to letting them make up their own minds

Soccer is laughable to me for this exact reason the way they carry on is embarrassing. It is starting to come into league with video ref referrals though and Bird is the biggest cat, however most of the time it is because someone has copped one straight across the moosh…..not been tripped over like those other pansies

Also agree with Jazza. Stop telling us SBW will be great for the game. He shat all over it and then took pot shots from the other side of the world. The bloke is a tool delux.

Another one I hate is "It's not his go" every time someone stuffs up.

Agreed, this really annoys me. If they feel the need to say it then the money clearly was a factor. I don't mind players who take the money to go elsewhere, it is an obvious motivation and they have every right to take it, but for god sake, just admit the money was a factor.

This irks me as well, considering they keep spewing out how they "just want to give people the option." Absolute crap and I hope their Western Sydney expansion goes down like a lead balloon.

Not a professional sporting pet hate, but on a level where I am playing: playing against people who throw out grub tactics, whinge, complain, sledge and everything then when someone dishes it back to them they go mental and throw out the "I have a family/wife/kid/mortgage" excuse as though they are invincible.

The AFL signing of Hunt and Folau reaaly irked me C'mon if these guys were at Collingwood ,Hawthorn orGeelong they wouldn't get a look in

They were signed to stick it up the NRL And what about the blokes who struggled to crack it for years who saw all this happen

I won't be surprised if the AFL tries to swindle a way that Hunt or Folau wins the Brownlow just to try and prove their point

Yeh if they wanted to give people an 'option', they wouldn't of bothered signing those NRL players, they would of just minded their own business and do their own thing. Imo signing those players could be a mistake because it could of proven to be a real wake up call to the NRL.

And you know what, if the AFL werent so aggressive in their expansion and just went about their business normally, I may of watched some matches on TV. I used to watch the odd AFL game here and there. But I had enough once they began these tactics and I haven't watched an AFL game in two years and that will continue. I hope Fox Footy channel goes bust as well.

In fact thats another pet hate, Foxtel making their millions off Rugby League and throwing that money at the AFL and giving them their own footy channel despite NRL dominating ratings on Pay TV. Without the NRL's success, the AFL wouldn't of had the money from TV rights to bring in another 2 teams.

I like the AFL, Im glad they are coming into western sydney.

As for the NRL dominating the ratings, and hence deserving the channel. The reason the AFL has its own channel is that replays of each of the games rate ok, as do the number of programs they have throughout the week, the teams, before the bounce, after the bounce plus others all rate. They can fill a channel that people will watch.

If there was a league channel, people would watch the games each weekend, but nothing in between.

imo the afl have two of the best sporting commentators of any sport in dennis cometti and tim lane, but they also have THE worst sports commentator, the gratingly irrepressible, most annoying cliche king … bruce macavaney.

If i had one sentence to sum what i thought of Andy Raymond, i think i'd steal your description of Bruce word for word. Fits him perfectly

I'm not sure about that Goose, if anything I feel it may even be the opposite to that. I read an article in the smh last year and it basically said with the NBN coming in, Foxtel are required to increase their market share. A greater percentage of people have Foxtel in NRL dominated areas compared to AFL dominated areas. So what is the best way to get an increased share of the market in those areas? Create an AFL channel to get people from those markets to subscribe to Foxtel.

Simply put, more people from AFL areas are likely to subscribe to Foxtel with an AFL channel running compared to people from NRL areas if Foxtel created an NRL channel.
