I've been reading a lot of negative posts recently on this forum regarding Mick Potter. I totally understand these views as most of us here are extremely passionate Wests Tigers supporters and speak out of frustration and emotion when results don't go our way. Its too easy these days to make a coach a scapegoat and Phil Gould said exactly that in the above article which i believe gave a really good insight into what it takes to be coach and defiantly provided myself with a different perspective when judging Mick Potter

Great article… The more you think about it the more you agree with what he is saying...

Nice to hear some comments about the present situation that go a bit deeper than I dont like this person because he hasn't brought instant results. Love Gus or Hate him I think most fair minded people would admit that very few know Football and Footballers better than he does.

I know Gus plays the fool for Channel 9 at times , but he is a very intelligent man and has an excellent football mind

The article on the same page at the bottom is also an excellent read (not)

Sheens is suing the Tigers as we have stopped payments to him because we are officially broke

What next ???

Great article and point to the article from Gus.

Hopefully someone of his calibre can get a real point across to our club.

Hahaha… Gus thinks he is the ultimate conductor in Rugby League and only does so for some form of gain for himself or his current employer. Don't be fooled simply because it suits your position on current scenarios at the Tigers.

Gus doesn't give a rats about the Wests Tigers, so I'll assume he is doing 1 of 2 things here. He is either sticking up for his old Bulldog Mate, or he doesn't want to lose his current Assistant Coach?!

Yeah ,you may be right but i don't think its Barrett that some Boardmembers have pencilled in to help/replace Potter but i may be on the wrong tram there but i guess we will all know more shortly.
I've spoken to Gus at functions and i think he does care about the Tigers for some reason, remember he was going to Coach us and try and get the joint venture stabilised in the early days,he wanted $1 more a season than the highest paid player(Terry Hill) but the Board in their wisdom decided they couldn't afford him.
Whether Potter stays or goes i think we all have to understand that club officials & Board members are seeing the coach and his methods, his interaction with the players etc on a daily basis, all we get are media & 3rd+++ hand reports on perceived issues that may or may not be accurate.
Sheens,as Gould alludes to in the article, had to go,he was stale and just going thru the motions, opposing Teams could shut down his plays blind folded, its just a shame that the transition to a new era has been so poorly handled. My 2c.

You reckon?

I doubt it

You might be right Watto. I remember reading a Gould column years ago and he was saying how he tried in vain to stop Terry lamb taking on the Tigers role. His point was that a rookie coach needs to go to a club with strong management. A weak administration will ruin a rookie coach's career. I sure he's been trying to talk Barrett out of it. Probably to warn/ help him out but maybe a bit to keep him at the Panthers too.

As it is, I think the spineless ones have seen the heavy critism from not one or two in the media but from right across the media and will stick with Potter now.
