Playing the ball forward

Remember when rugby league teams used to do that? When did that stop? I bought a NSWRL 1990 Year In Review from an op shop (remember those videos?) and I saw it being done, I'd completely forgotten about that.

I remember they changed the rule to stop it, but can't remember how long ago.

Could tap it forward if there were no markers, thats my take on it anyways…....although the rule got very vague close to the tryline with players kicking it thru and chasing into the ingoal

They were the good old days ! Slightly off topic when did the rule change when a player got hold up in- goal they lost possession ?
That's my biggest pet hate in the modern game .

Didn't they both finish about the same time

I reckon the unlimited tackle count would of been the rule that would of been interesting to play under
